transmission heavy leak

Hi,
My escort 93, 1.9, gas, automatic, leaks transmission fluid very fast, where the engine meets the transmission (torque converter).
Is this a front seal failure or could it be something else?
How long/difficult is to remove the tranny and change this seal?
I have experience with motorbikes engines, but I have never remove an auto trany.
thanks,
L

Re: transmission heavy leak

Not likely that the converter is leaking, not to be ruled out but not likely.Does sound like a front seal,or front pump possibly.Your best bet is to get a haynes manual.
It is a little time consuming,if you've never done one figure a weekend. If you have...a day.But get the book.
