79 Firebird after $2000.

I bought the 79 bird, a 403 re-built, with a re-built transmission (not the best job outthere, but it works fine).
I put in a new radiator, new barkes, new rocker assembly, new headers, air shocks in the back, high preassure gas shock in the front and now I am starting the Formula transformation into a Trans-am. I already got the special eddition gold hood, the shaker (which I plan on replacing with a holley air cleaner).

I was just wondering of what kind of tires would you guys recomend, and do you think that raising the back with big tires (not so big that they stick out) is a good thing, or does it make it look 'tacky'?
What color would you recomend for the "trans am"? I am going with silver, but I am open for your suggestions.

Thanks.

ur tire recommendation sounds pretty good to me. However, black with gold accents like in Smokey and the Bandit sounds good!heheh...

I have a '79 TA 400, and use 255/60/15 on the rear (The original size was 225/70/15). The only problem with these 255 tires is when someone rides in the back seat and I hit a fairly large dip, the fender will lightly contact the tire. I plan on lifting the rear about one inch to correct this problem. I also need new tires and I am thinking of going to 275/60/15, and if I do, will probably have to lift it more than an inch. But the car sits lower in the rear than the front so if may look fine. In my opinon, a firebird does not look as good raised up with huge tires as a Camaro does. Don't know why, maybe because I see the TA as more of a roadrace type of design, where the front and rear tires should be close to the same size. Right now the TA is not on the road - have not had time to get it out of the garage yet and the inspection has expired, so I am going to see if I can work with the tire dealer and have them mount two tires (one for the front and one for the rear) then I'll take them home and see if they fit ok. I am also changing the front to a wider tire, but not sure what will fit and steer properly.
