I NEED NEON HELP!!! ASAP!!! 3 car problemsneonevolution 04-22-2004, 12:35 AM ok, i've got a list of problems i've been trying to get the answer for, and nobody seems to know what their talking about, so i'd figure i would get a id on here, since i was planning on souping my car up anyway. ok i've had a 2000 neon for about a year, the engine is a 2.0L SOHC, and runs about 132 hp. i'm on 68,000 miles. automatic. here's the list of my problems: 1. my front grinds, this just started about a week ago.. and has eventually gotten worse. i'm thinking its my tires being real crappy and needing a change, i need tires anyway so i'd figure it could just be a belt rubbing on the road. however when i'm at a stop or in neutral i rev my engine it will still make the sound sometimes. could it possibly be the rev limiter just messing up, or is it a transmission problem or what.. it's really scaring the shit out of me, beacuse i don't want major work done right before i start getting things put on my car. 2. right before that happened, about a week or two before actually, (easter) i was in a big hurry, and nonone was on the high way so i tried flooring it, well it only got up to 85 and wouldn't go any farther, it just reved at 85 and kept going, and i know the govener shuts the neons off at 103 or 105 or something, not 85 thats kind of drastic, is it a fuel problem? filter problem? i dunno here's everyone else's suggestions: new air cleaner, new filter, maybe new plugs.. if it's engine problems, new tires though. my thought on it is, it's getting close to 70,000, maybe its time to go get a oil change and all that fun stuff done if i could get everyone to post back asap, i REALLY need advice on this, because i'm getting stuff put on in about a month or so and i can't have my engine screwing up, so if i could get several opionions i would really appreciate it. nealuss 04-22-2004, 11:13 PM im not sure what the problem is; but then again i dont know as much about cars as some of the people on this forum simply because of not having time to piddle with cars as much as i wanted to. I would say go ahead and get your car tuned up first of all like you were saying, youre gonna have to do that anyway if you havent already. it would make sense to do that and then see whats still going wrong. FuriousMachine95 04-24-2004, 12:16 AM The grinding could be wheel bearings or cv joints. The problem with no power could be your fuel filter getting clogged or something with the fuel dilevery system going. Check your trannie fluid too. It may be low.
