jdm smog questionCVTodd1 04-18-2004, 04:59 AM I currently have a 2000 gsr, but i was going to get a 92-95 civic hatchback, and i wasnt too sure on the smog rules in california for swapping in a jdm gsr. (b18c1) Does anyone know if the jdm motor's a are smog legal, or would I have to go with a usdm? any info would be helpful. Thanks. Todd jdmcrxhatch 04-19-2004, 07:48 AM d/w about it many people do those swaps in cali, i have three friends that are currently doing b18c of swap right now... salbaje 04-19-2004, 09:48 PM The jdm swaps are doable as long as you leave all the smog equipment in. As for getting it Bar'd that's a different story. You can pass smog with jdm motor CVTodd1 04-20-2004, 05:32 AM when you say leave all the smog equipment in, r u refering to the stock header, piping, etc? Thanks for the info thou, for my next car, i wanted to do a swap, and i know jdm is the way to go, but i wanted to make sure i wouldn't run into problems....is it necessary to get it bar'd? Thanks alot. Todd bennybenster 04-20-2004, 01:59 PM CVTodd1 - where are you in CA? I'm looking for a place to do my swap. Let me know. Thanks. CVTodd1 04-21-2004, 05:10 AM bennybenster- I'm in the bayarea, you've probably heard of oakland, i'm about 10 minutes away from there 88civicSiR 04-22-2004, 11:08 AM I have a jdm B16 in my civic hatch, if you go to a ref that knows what he's doing he's going to pick your jdm motor apart. The ref i went to told me i had to go from having 2 O2 sensors to having 1, that i had to change my throttle body b/c i don't have a map sensor, and that my intake manifold had to be changed b/c it says PGM-FI on it. I am in Santa Barbara, and went to the ref on the UCSB campus. If anyone knows how i can get my car smogged without changing everything, let me know please CVTodd1 04-23-2004, 07:02 PM Damn, I don't know... That sucks, the ref picked it apart like that. I'll talk to my friends, and see if they know anything, because they know more about cars than I do, so if I find out anything I'll let you know. blkef 08-04-2004, 10:21 PM I have a jdm B16 in my civic hatch, if you go to a ref that knows what he's doing he's going to pick your jdm motor apart.
