How much lift to fit 35`s

The wheels and tires that I`m considering are new take offs from the 2004 hummer.

TIRE SIZE: LT315/70R17D
TIRE DIAMETER (HEIGHT): 35" in
ROAD SURFACE TREAD WIDTH: 10.25 inch
SIDEWALL DESIGN: Outlined Raised Black Letters
LOAD RANGE: D
PLY RATING: 8 PLY

Wheel Size, 17 x 8.5
8 Lug on 6.5" Bolt Pattern
Back Spacing, 5-9/16"
Wheel Offset, +20mm (Positive Offset)

I don`t mind doing a body lift, but don`t really want to go more than 3" A suspension lift would be considered, but I have no clue what that would cost.

You are looking at an increase of 2 inches into the wheel well. Additionally, you are increasing the width by over 2.5 inches. The lift you will need is going to be determined by how much clearance you want in the wheel well. Also, consider the increase in width as well as heigh giving you a good rub on the frame. This can be countered by the offset of the wheel.

Another thing to consider is the increase in braking power required to stop the additional torque created by increasing the tire radius and rotational mass. It is recommended that you only increase tire size by a max of 3%...this will be over 11%. Not that I can talk much, since I have done this exact thing with my Jeep. I can notice a difference in performance (I haven't lowered the gearing yet) and I don't tow much weight.

Just some things to consider...along with the change in mpg you will experience...
