Hey, my friend has been looknig into the SRT-4.
All the ones we have seen, this kid's, the two we test drove at the dealership, all backfire, do you SRT-4 owners have this problem or what?

Yes, but it's not a problem, but a design feature. The car runs super rich, helps keep cylinder head temps down, contributing to longer exhaust manifold life amongst other things. Absolutely normal. You should hear my Stage 1 car with the Mopar 2.5 inch exhaust:)

yeah its normal, its just from the lack of back pressure. Yeah mine with mopar exhaust sounds great too!!!

haha it doesnt have mufflers....i did a 3" cat-back with no resonators, very loud...but i like it...the popping is the unburnt fuel fireing in the cat.

Hey Man, I don't know if you mean the bubble down the engine has when you come off the throtle or the noise when you hit the limmiter. But there is no backfire. The noise when you come off the throtle is just simply a healthy motor bubble down, and the other is unburnt fuel build up in the cylinders, when the rev limmiter is hit, that did not ignite because the ignition was stopped for a short moment so you don't blow the motor. I have an electric blue '04 and it doesn't back fire.
