problem with radio after battery dies

Parents having a problem with a 2001. After a trunk light killed the battery, they jumped the car off and everything is fine exepct the radio. Over the few days since then the radio first had trouble changing channels and now will not work at all the cd player will take the cd and spit it back out but will not play. They haven't checked any fuses, but assuming they are all fine what could be the problem? I'm not very familiar with these cars so any help would be really appreciated.
