Option racing xenon bulbs
I saw this xenon headlight bulbs made by option racing and was thinking of purchasing this. it said 130/100W lights output with current draw of 85/80W 4300K. Wanted to know if there's anyone that has used this product already.
Does this affect the car being that it draws more than the oem bulbs?
They claim that its super white and no bluish that comes out. I know this is not really a real HID lighting but better than traditional yellow.
My car is a 2001 Jeep grand cherokee laredo.
Any suggestions please..
Thanks,
Dennis

Re: Option racing xenon bulbs
Dennis,
I have replaced all my bulbs in my 04 Grand Cherokee and I got some nice PIAA's for the low beams, and I think the brand I got for my high beams and fog lights was Optilux, I had to mod the bulbs a bit to fit into the headlight fixture, which by the way is a pain in the butt to take out, but they look really nice if your interested I can investigate my bulbs more and relay more info to you.

Re: Option racing xenon bulbs
PIAA'S seems to be more proven with Jeep, the only problem is the cost. Mind if I ask how much is is for your Low beams?. Also I read the article from jeepsunlimited.com and it seems like PIAA only comes with an "L" shape bulbs right? That the other factor i'm considering since the original is 9006xs with a straight tail.
Is PIAA really that white? or still see the yellowish color?. How much wattage does PIAA have?
Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis,
I had a set of PIAA fog lights on my last car, and the little relay switch burned out for some reason, Im not really sure, but PIAA completely replaced the system for me no questions asked, all I did was send them an email and tell them what happened so I really believe with PIAA that you get what you pay for, it's not always true but PIAA is good stuff. The low beams were around $70 which is kinda expensive but they are definitely not the yellow color, I hate that, that's what I got them the PIAA low beams are more of a whitish/blue kinda, and the high beams and fog lights are just high wattage and just plain white light, they were like $28 for each set. I think the low beams were the L shaped bulbs, and the other two were the straight bulbs, I can't remember the numbers on them, but like I said I had to grind down the housing on each of them a bit to get them to fit, so it was a custom job no doubt, and the headlight assembly in the new jeeps is a long process to get out. I can try to find the style number and more info for you if you want, just reply and let me know.

Re: Option racing xenon bulbs
That would be great! Might go to the shop tomorrow to purchase it. Gotta ask PIAA first if they came out with 9006xs (straight) instead of just the 9006 (L shape). Did you have to shave anything to fit the L shape bulb?

I don't believe they make a 9006 straight bulb, and now that I think of it, I believe that is the right type of bulb for the low beam for the GC, yes we had to shave part of just one of those 3 notches around the bottom of the bulb, not too much, but I couldn't tell you the exact amount or angle that we shaved, if you are wanting to try to replicate the process I went through to put in my PIAA's and the other bulbs, I can ask the guy that helped me put them in. By the way, the fog lights, if you have them, are very easy to replace and they are a straight bulb I know that for sure, the high beams, you have to shave also about the same amount as the low beams, but I think they might a straight bulb too. Also, the orientation of the notch on the side you have to shave off is related to which headlight assembly you are installing the lights into (ex. right notch for the right side, left notch for the left side) if I remember correctly. You have to take out your intake box and some other stuff to get to the right one, and you have to remove your battery and a few other things to get to the left one, so it's a fairly long and laborious process just to let you know.
