Re: 96 Idle Problem

Has the Check Engine Light some on through any of this? If so, have you checked the output codes?

I had something similar a couple weeks back, but it was not isolated to just those symptoms and I think I took care of it by taking care of the other items.

Re: 96 Idle Problem

I wish I had an OBD scan tool, need to put that in my Xmas list. I still do my fix ups the old fashion way pull parts and replace. By what I read it sound like faulty gas delivery. I would check your fuel pressure regulator.

Re: 96 Idle Problem

It sounds like you're in for a throttle valve replacement soon. Those codes can be a pain to go through the diagnosis, most often it's a bad valve/module unit. Check out the many threads on the subject. There's the cleaning option that will sometimes work, but with the codes you have it's doubtful. If you want to diagnose it yourself get a Bentley manual and a VAG-COM scanner.
