Has anyone come up with a good aftermarket cup holder that doesn't look totally stupid for the 93.5 g20?

Oh, boy, I wish! :(

Maybe our prayers will be answered this time! :D

These guys have aftermarket cupholders for Audi, Porsche and Mercedes - if only we could convince them to make a G20 one.

http://www.birdautomotive.com/Armrests.htm

Here's one that claims to never let drinks spill - supposedly it tilts around so even if you're cornering hard your bevg. won't get all over your lap.

http://bcsystems.ws/

This one might be cool if it was attached properly...maybe.

Do you have any idea how many pants I could replace for $130?!?!? I can't imagine why you could conceivably want to spend that much to keep a drink out of your lap unless you liked to dump McDonald's coffee on your pants

That third link there does seem somewhat promising, but where could P10 owners mount it???

Ahhhh....don't know - just trying to be helpful.

As for the unspillable one, I figured I'd suggest it because c'mon, some of the people on this board routinely spend thousands of $ on wheels, body kits, etc...so what's another $29 (the cheapest on the site). Besides, I guess it's cheaper than spilling coffee in your lt. gray or beige upholstery.... :)

WOW, the 130.00 model is CNC machined aluminum. These things look awesome!! The 24.00 model is made from poly-carbonate, but it looks just as cool. I bought one off their site and it installed without a hitch. I get more compliments on my new cup holder than I do on my custom paint job! Check it out at: http://www.bcsystems.ws

Oh Yeah...Havent spilled a drop yet.

yeah- i bet that guy was paid to say it... or he was the owner of it...

look at what car he has...

a suburban??????

IN THE G20 FORUM????

DEFINITELY a spammer.

by the way- i have a cupholder that clips on the grill of the AC...

holds a drink pretty well and it holds your cell phone fairly well too- so it'll blink at u when you're getting a phone call and when u can't hear the phone over the stereo...

i'll take a picture of it and post it soon...

 I don't have an ashtray, if that's what you're using as a cup holder. My G20 doesn't have any "stock" cup holders... (I'll post a picture of my interior when I get home)

I won't use those itty bitty indentations to hold any drinks of mine!!! I'd much rather burn/freeze my thighs by holding my drinks between my legs! :bloated:

Hey, question for you all...

In my P10 (picture forthcoming when I am home) there is a bit of open space on the doors directly above the speakers... Could we conceivably put bolt-on cup holders here or is there wiring/window space behind it???

ok- here's the plan.

it's a two stage plan...

stage 1: get new girlfriend.

stage 2: give her cups to hold.

ta daaaaa!~~~~~~~

instant cupholder!

i broke up with my old girlfriend- but eh- she wasn't a really good cupholder.

Do you think could you fit a Super Big Gulp in there? My mom's integra has something simular, but the tray doesn't come out far enough and the side of the cup is all jamed up agianst the radio.

Does anyone know if there is a armrest replacement for the G20?

bump909
01-24-2002, 09:37 AM
yeah, i think it's just like a lot of those japanese aftermarket cup holders.

they only work with small water bottles or 12oz cans. :rocket:

TRBOBRK
01-24-2002, 05:28 PM
12oz cans only huh. Well that will last about a mile.

JustinP10
01-28-2002, 02:56 AM
I put drinks (of pretty much any size) in the armrest thingy (technical term :D) I have some pens and stuff in there that i move to fit around the different sized drink containers. A soda can fits perfectly in there, and you can even close the lid. But... it's not a great solution, as it only fits one drink, and when in use, you don't have an arm rest...

That DIN cupholder looks good... too bad i'm gonna probably end up putting gauges there.. maybe i'll have to find somewhere else to put the gauges, other than the DIN opening. hmmm.

I use the one from pep boys. The thing that you can adjust and tighthen, more like a vise concept. I put it on the hand break and it works fine. The only problem is you better finish your beverage before you get to your destination. Once you park your car, whatever you have in the cup holder will be tilted and possibly spill some liquid. Better look kinda stupid than burn my..., you know what ;) Can I say balls?

ok - i was up in san francisco at some little race shop and found a set of cup holders that are-

AWESOME...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=601003138&r=0&t=0

these look very similar to the ones i bought at that race shop and they are surprisingly sturdy...

it hooks onto your A/C vent- and with that placement- chills your drink when the A/C is on because the drink sits right in front of the vent!!!

it'll carry a good sized drink and your cellphone when you're done with the drink... it's a great place for the cellphone because it holds your phone closer to eye level and when you're cruising with your loud stereo- u can just glance over at the phone when it's blinking and u know you're getting that booty call- err- u know...

so anyways- i think it's the best cup holder out there...

your thoughts?

EWW... it's a Type tRendy cupholder :hehe: But in all honesty, decent idea, but i'd be afraid that anything larger than a soda, or maybe even a full 12oz soda can, the holder wouldn't hold. It'd make a nasty mess if it were to spill from up there too. That's the biggest disadvantage I can see right now.

I have a P!! and the cupholder SUCKS! It's almost under the stereo so you can't fit anything but cansin it. It's O.K. for soda cans (just O.K.)
But it's better at holding change and loose stuff!

So I'm thinkin' if the P10 has cup holder issues, you'd think they would have fixed it by now! BASTARDS!

Peace!

just wanted to comment on the "Type R" cupholder....

when I got my P10...I tryed living with the fact that it had nothing to hold my coffee for me...I used to do what JustinP10 does...putting it in the armrest with other stuff to stop it from moving..

well...I got fed up...went to good ol' Canadian Tire(their auto dept is like Pepboys in the states I think) anyway...bought my G a "TypeR" cupholder for 6bucks Canadian...clips onto the air vent... looks very unsturdy...but

it works..it works really well...
if I take a corner at 120 or 140...it doesn't spill. unless the dude at the drive-thru forgets to put the lid on right.

anyway...just my thoughts on it.

That's km/h right? :D I may have to check these things out, they seem to be a lot sturdier than they look. What size drinks can you hold in them from a fast food place, will a large cup fit in them, or are you limited to smaller drinks?

junglist
02-08-2002, 12:38 PM
yeah that's kms...I wish it was mphs.

it won't hold a large(sorta does, but I wouldn't drive with a large in there)...medium from McDonald's or whatever fits great...and it has a little plastic thing that flips down to make it the size for a can..

at first when I saw it I thought it was just a waste of 6bucks...didn't think it would work very well...I will admit that if your cup is way too full and the lid isn't secure....then it makes a mess..same thing that used to happen when I had drinks in the console thingy..they spilled every once in a while....but the cupholder does a good job.

it is worth its $6

Yeah, i know. I was just curious if there were different sizes, cause your's looked like it could hold up to about a medium fast food drink, or a soda can, stuff like that. I just wasn't sure if there were other sizes available. It looked pretty sturdy, considering it's clipped to the vent.

02-08-2002, 12:55 PM
yeah- the air vent keeps the drink cold too!

but then- it blocks the cold air from hitting your face (sucks in arizona)

I guess you guys don't use the heater much down there....but it keeps coffee hot in the winter too.

how cold does it get in arizona?

cliffud
02-08-2002, 01:34 PM
not cold enough.

it's a huge fluctuation between hot and cold out here...

hot in summer: 117 in the day.

cold in winter: 40-50 at night.

I remember one summer I was out on my friend's patio and it was midnight- the damn thermometer on the wall said 100 degrees...

AT MIDNIGHT!!!!!!!

But i'm sure the thermometer partially affected by the trapped heat in the wall on which it was mounted... however you'd think that by 12 midnight- that heat would have dissipated already.

eh- oh well...

all I can say is...

Cold Air Intakes sell like hotcakes out here.

Acutally, it snowed a week or so ago here in Tucson. The high that day was in the 30s. however now, a week later it's in the 70s, go figure. I do need to use my heater in the mornings in the winter time. But that's maybe 2 months or so... middle of december to middle-end of february.
