96 G. Voyager noise problem

Hello.
I have this grand voyager with several problems:1. can hear squealing noise around driver side frond wheel when driving. Strangely, when I push the brake, the noise seems reduced. Is this brake problem?
2. Recently I had a/c repaired. But since then, when I turn on a/c while driving, I can hear this loud noise. If I accelerate with a/c on, the noise is getting louder ( I feel like it explode soon!!) and as I continue to accelerate, the noise reduces at certain point.
3. Gear shift problem. When I start the car and shift the gear, frequently to back position, the car doesn't move for some minutes and then with a bit of shifting shock the car starts moving. And also when I pass bumps, the car sometimes stop moving. I should restart the engine or wait until it wants to move.
4. The speedometer sometimes doesn't work. Even I drive with no problem.
I hope someone can share his/her valuable experience or knowledge about these problems so that at least I can figure out what went wrong.
Thanks in advance.

Re: 96 G. Voyager noise problem

Ya I have had this type of squel too. Mine started about 8 years ago ! I've owned the van (92 voyager) for just over 8 years now ! (dooh)

About 4 years ago I set out to find this noise. After taking the front drivers side brake assembly appart several times I decided to replace the axel bearing and ball-joint.

After having to get a mobil mechanic to help me with the new ball-joint seating...

The squel went away for about two weeks and has been there ever since. The front bearing cost me 75 bucks at Canadiana Tire.

After considerable thought.. The squel gets to stay !

Re: 96 G. Voyager noise problem

I have the same damn problem on my 96. Still trying to get it fixed, but look at the brake pads, specifically the outside pad. My noise is coming from the wear tab that extrudes from the center of the pad, and rubs the hub portion of the rotor. I can even see a mark where the tab has scraped there. I'm beginning to think that the aftermarket rotors or the calipers are at fault. I like these vans, but the brakes are crap on the grand voyager base with 3.0 and the 3speed auto trans. Just try goin down a mountain fully loaded once....
