Well I had my first street race last night with a Dodge SRT-4. I was at the gas station filling up and this Dodge was across from me in the other pump lane. I could tell he was looking my Stang over pretty hard. Nothing was said and we both finished pumping our gas. As soon as he started it up you could hear the Fart can, and see those ugly green neon lights from under the car come on. I mean neon lights are bad enough on a car but green neon lights on a blue car "Really Ugly.."

Anyway back to what happened. After filling up I pulled out onto the road and came to a stop at the red light. This Dodge pulls up next me and starts reving his Fart Can... So the light changes and it's on, I spin the tire through second and before I new it the Dodge was nothing but a reflection in my rear view mirror... It was not even a race... I thought the Dodge SRT-4 was a fast car... Not so... Anyway that was my first street race... The funny part of this story was when I stopped at the next light he pulls up and the light changes before he can fully stop and then he guns it again like the second time around was going to be any different... I just let him go and as he passed I noticed a sticker on his back window... It was that little guy pissing on a Mustang....

I talked to the guys friend that has the SRT4 and after the computer mod he thinks he'll be mid 13, maybe but I would think it would take more then just a puter mod to drop half a second thru the 1/4. I mean normally you don't see 12 second cars on the road all the time :wink: he probably thought ooh another mustang here we go. I know I get it a bunch people thinking I have the 2.5 4 cylinder from the 80's :evillol:

Not to start anything, and really i'm not even a big fan of Neons (as i own a mustang) but the stock Neons that i see run at my track (Atlanta Dragway) run a good bit faster than 14.10's. A guy i talked to just bought the thing then took it too the dragway (still had the dealership license plate) and first ran 13.80's then eventually hit 13.70's after getting used to the car a little. Once again not trying to start anything just saying what i saw.

well if its true that you actually have a 12 sec mustang then a stock SRT4 would be a very easy kill. Heck even a stock 03/04 cobra would be an easy kill.


And its true with a good driver the 04 srt4s are capable of ~13.7s

with a few mods that et can drop considerably....

My buddy just bought a silver metallic 2004 SRT-4. (one of 7 in San Antonio)

Anyway, his exhause sounds mean as hell, no fart can sound at all. Plus the stock turbo spools so damn loud, you can't even hear that much exhaust ;)

Yes it was an SRT4 and there were 2 fart cans sticking out the back facsia of the car. I did not see an intercoller but I was not looking for one. It was the first SRT4 I had seen.

I did not say it was shitty, in fact as I stated I thought they were quite a bit faster than what they actually are. I was not the one that wanted race, he challenged me and he got his back side handed to him. This car did not sound nothing like everyone is describing it. The exhaust note was high pitched with a little rumble. There were two oversized exhaust pipes sticking out the back and those, but ugly neon lights.

It was probably something like a newer neon or SX2.0 which this guy confused for an SRT-4 because there is no way you got a "fart can" sound out of a SRT-4. It sounds amazing for a 4 banger.

Yeah, I don't think you raced an SRT-4. I'll bet it was an SXT with the SRT looks package. The SRT-4 is capable of 13.7 in the 1/4. Stock they are no slouch.

I dunno, I've heard them many a time and aside from the Turbo spool (which sounds great on most Turbo cars) I wasnt impressed at all. Have you heard a 3S-GTE with an intake, exhaust and downpipe?

No, that's a different dude. The other one has an 11 sec. mustang. Personally I don't give a rat's ass about all the mustang owner's hating on imports, i've smoked plenty of them to make myself feel happy :) A few losses to some wildly modified Mustangs isn't gonna hurt my feelings.

Technically it could still be an ownage even if he's not the same guy because he doesn't seem to have his story straight. I mean NOONE would replace the sound with a fartcan. The story just doesn't seem right.

well i dont know about that. i mean i use to have a apexi N1 duals on my car, but they weren't giving me the spool response and highend that i wanted so i swaped out my apexi for a GP sport 3 inch exhuast. and i'll tell you my car is sooo annoying its sooo freakin loud now, its driving me madd. but turbo did get my responsive and i can hit a full 9 psi in first gear again, and my highend got better. but it looks like a freakin coffee can and its loud, but in a bassy way. i don't know if that would be considered a fart can though.
