Can't polish a turd. The flares are a nice idea. The front, well, when the stock design is so woefully flawed you can't do that much to save it. And the wing looks faintly ridiculous.

i say, i hate the front end and the wing, but the concept definitely has potential.

yup, i see a strong resemblance to the R34 too. Not the front grill though, more how the sides flare up like an R34. I love it though, looks awesome, if i had the cash i'd buy one.........one for every day of the week that is :p Is this for real though? i'm hearing its a load of bullsh*t from my friends so i dunno, i guess i'll believe it when i see ford selling it.

ah much better, but whats wiht the name? it sounds like to me a hotter Mustang GT, or something, or the cobra R, but personaly the mustang line up i would like is base with the 202-250hp, gt with 300hp, bullit with 350hp, mach one with 400hp, cobra with 500hp(to go head to head with the M5), cobra R with 500hp cheaper then the cobra, a cobra for the common joe, and the Boss Mustang Cobra, with 550hp, all cobras with a 5liter engine or the 5.4 in the Ford GT. I just did not want to start a thread to say that.

Woah now, let's not get carried away. I highly doubt that was what happened. I don't think they're trying to make it look like a Skyline. It just came out that way. They just took the new Mustang body and made it more aggressive. And it just ended up resembling a Skyline. I'm pretty sure they didn't base the design of the Mustang off of the Skyline.

Actually, he made perfect sense. Domestic owners could be shown Abel Ibarra's RX-7 that could qualify for a Pro Stock field and they'll still make snide comments about "fuggin Mazda".

You're showing quite the same attitude. If this Mustang is carrying on the R tradition of stripped down pure racers with no sound deadening, two seats, massive brakes, stiff suspension and requiring a competition license to purchase one (save for the most recent version) then it'll be a handling beast.

But, as it is merely a Mustang to you, you'd never give it the credit it would deserve as a good cornering, fast accelerating, all around strong sports car.

And honestly, it looks much closer to the MG SV-R X-power than to the R34 Skyline. There's a lot of Peter Stevens influence in the design. Which, considering Peter Stevens's often muddled approach (the McLaren F1 and the SV-R are both his) coupled with J. Mays (Ford Design Chief) completely misguided "retrofuturism" style, makes this a mish-mash of "cutting edge" race track stylisms and tastelessly applied classic design cues.

BUT: it's my opinon! Plain and simple...

without that hidious wing, and a little more dense grille, i like it a lot. lose the 2-piece headlights and i'm sold.

the red one was badass... but come one now. it's a dedicated race car, with an exposed filler neck and full roll cage. the chances of a car like that actually being mass-produced are about as close to nil as is possible.

even if they produce this car using that configuration, it wouldn't be available to the public... it specifically says in one of those links that the car is only for grassroots racing teams and professional roadracers. to answer that last post, that would be the way to go, because a car with all those modifications isn't the slightest bit streetable. it uses centerlock wheels too... imagine trying to change those with basic hand tools.

i love roadracing, but i have no chance to do it around here. i'll just stick to drag racing, which i can do every weekend and most weekdays if i so choose. a small entry fee and the occasional street race isn't too tall a price.

I think it looks bad a$$ if it makes the numbers it claims to it will own the streets. Just kill the wing and change the colour. And BAM, you got one crazy pony on your hands.

IF they do bring out streetable GT-R Mustang. Thos who like it shall buy it. Those who don't, won't...plain and simple. But I doubt that they can make a beast like that keeps its performance stats while still being an affordable street car. They will be as or more rare then the Mach 1's. Personally I would never buy a Ford, but that's my opinion and I don't think that me not buying that car will affect Ford's sells on the Mustangs.
