The REAL Mustang GT-R...(seriously)carrrnuttt 04-04-2004, 04:30 PM RedLightning 04-04-2004, 04:33 PM nooooo i cant be!!!! dang that thing is ugly! PunkAlex 04-04-2004, 05:14 PM Its not that bad When is Saleen going to tackle making a realistic new-body mustang? like the regular old intake/exuast/bodykit saleens we see today? I hope its as soon as they roll into the showroom floors... RedLightning 04-04-2004, 05:16 PM take that wing off PunkAlex 04-04-2004, 05:19 PM take that wing off YEah, thats a little unnecisarry....but i do like the practically transparent front end Chavez408 04-04-2004, 05:20 PM i like it! its something different  Ace$nyper 04-04-2004, 05:24 PM things mean as hell looking i want 1!!! sounds like a freaking beast too! RACER D12 04-04-2004, 05:31 PM I like it but I dont like how how you can see the fan. GTStang 04-04-2004, 06:13 PM I like it except for the wing... I also like how I can see the twin fans... reminds me of the Shelby Cobras Layla's Keeper 04-04-2004, 06:51 PM Can't polish a turd. The flares are a nice idea. The front, well, when the stock design is so woefully flawed you can't do that much to save it. And the wing looks faintly ridiculous. Like I said. Can't polish a turd. Mediocrity 04-04-2004, 07:01 PM Am I the only one noticing a slight resemblance to an R34 or am I just going nuts? It might be just the grill though... I dunno. TerminalVelocity 04-04-2004, 07:36 PM :disappoin well, the front is ass the wing is ass its ass is well...the only good thing about it I say BAN HIM!....errr.....IT! StangNut86 04-04-2004, 08:36 PM now, now, it's just a concept... i didn't particularly like the Mustang GT concept from last year, and look how that turned out. i say, i hate the front end and the wing, but the concept definitely has potential. 2000LS1Z28 04-04-2004, 08:58 PM It doesn't look that bad IMO. I'd buy it if it didn't come in orange. youngvr4 04-04-2004, 11:11 PM i like it! wing and fan and all. its diff and the wing is probably very neccessary. DkShadow 04-05-2004, 12:21 AM Fittingly, the concept car is powered by a 500-hp 5.0-liter V-8, justacruiser 04-05-2004, 01:13 AM DITCH the wing, put a more sensible spoiler on it. Other than that, that's a wicked ride! phantomz28 04-05-2004, 03:34 AM oh gad! ford made RICE ON STEROIDS!!! NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! Zwrangler 04-05-2004, 04:35 AM Am I the only one noticing a slight resemblance to an R34 or am I just going nuts? It might be just the grill though... I dunno. yup, i see a strong resemblance to the R34 too. Not the front grill though, more how the sides flare up like an R34. I love it though, looks awesome, if i had the cash i'd buy one.........one for every day of the week that is :p Is this for real though? i'm hearing its a load of bullsh*t from my friends so i dunno, i guess i'll believe it when i see ford selling it. christophv 04-05-2004, 08:41 AM Can't polish a turd. w0rd. Instead of giving them blunt and massive designs, they should go back to a little ..uhm curvy shape. I hope you know what I mean. I generally dislike this edgy american design, likely to that new Caddy CTS.. just my 0.02 bucks. carrrnuttt 04-05-2004, 06:46 PM Somebody from SVTperformance Photoshopped a hi-res version from orange to red: http://p33head.auto-shopper.info/Pictures/MrRed.jpg Self 04-05-2004, 07:08 PM I LOVE it personally. Guys...the wing is more than likely functional, so step off. It looks just like a Skyline to me too. 1viadrft 04-05-2004, 07:16 PM Yeah... they really ripped off the R34 SKYLINE GTR's looks. Yes, yes... I admit it's kinda cool lookin'... but it's a MUSTANG that's trying to look like a Japanese Super Car... which makes it very uncool! And SELF is right! The wing is most likely functional! Do you guys know anything??? RedLightning 04-05-2004, 07:22 PM Yeah... they really ripped off the R34 SKYLINE GTR's looks. Yes, yes... I admit it's kinda cool lookin'... but it's a MUSTANG that's trying to look like a Japanese Super Car... which makes it very uncool! And SELF is right! The wing is most likely functional! Do you guys know anything??? :iamwithst 1viadrft 04-05-2004, 07:25 PM  Who you calling stupid, stupid!!! LoL :lol2: RedLightning 04-05-2004, 07:27 PM i love that smilie carrrnuttt 04-05-2004, 07:41 PM Here's a couple more Photoshop renditions of the car: http://www.rc.i4m.org/GT-R.jpg http://www.rc.i4m.org/GT-R2.jpg Personally, I like it. RedLightning 04-05-2004, 07:47 PM ah much better, but whats wiht the name? it sounds like to me a hotter Mustang GT, or something, or the cobra R, but personaly the mustang line up i would like is base with the 202-250hp, gt with 300hp, bullit with 350hp, mach one with 400hp, cobra with 500hp(to go head to head with the M5), cobra R with 500hp cheaper then the cobra, a cobra for the common joe, and the Boss Mustang Cobra, with 550hp, all cobras with a 5liter engine or the 5.4 in the Ford GT. I just did not want to start a thread to say that. Self 04-05-2004, 08:16 PM Yeah... they really ripped off the R34 SKYLINE GTR's looks. Yes, yes... I admit it's kinda cool lookin'... but it's a MUSTANG that's trying to look like a Japanese Super Car... which makes it very uncool! And SELF is right! The wing is most likely functional! Do you guys know anything??? Woah now, let's not get carried away. I highly doubt that was what happened. I don't think they're trying to make it look like a Skyline. It just came out that way. They just took the new Mustang body and made it more aggressive. And it just ended up resembling a Skyline. I'm pretty sure they didn't base the design of the Mustang off of the Skyline. justacruiser 04-05-2004, 08:32 PM Yeah... they really ripped off the R34 SKYLINE GTR's looks. An American carmaker, copying a JAPANESE carmaker?!?!? It's supposed to be the other way around! RACER D12 04-05-2004, 09:34 PM The more I see it, the more I like it. I'll take one in black please. phantomz28 04-05-2004, 09:58 PM itd still discustingly ugly 1viadrft 04-05-2004, 10:14 PM It's cool lookin'... but it's still a MUSTANG... DkShadow 04-05-2004, 10:51 PM It's cool lookin'... but it's still a MUSTANG... HOLY SHIT?!?! IT IS?!?!? R U 4 R34L! I DID NOT KNOW THAT!!! THANK YOU, YOU BRILLIANT YOUNG MAN!!! 1viadrft 04-05-2004, 11:19 PM HOLY SHIT?!?! IT IS?!?!? R U 4 R34L! I DID NOT KNOW THAT!!! THANK YOU, YOU BRILLIANT YOUNG MAN!!! Are you okay? Really... are you? And speaking of brilliance... you're gushing with it! Who taught you that lil' trick with the numbers? R U 4 R34L??? Or are you self-educated? I meant: It's still a MUSTANG... as in I'm not impressed! Just in case you did not catch that, sport... DkShadow 04-05-2004, 11:27 PM Are you okay? Really... are you? And speaking of brilliance... you're gushing with it! Who taught you that lil' trick with the numbers? R U 4 R34L??? Or are you self-educated? I meant: It's still a MUSTANG... as in I'm not impressed! Just in case you did not catch that, sport... Why... yes.. its called sarcasm you dolt. If youre going to insult the car at least come up with a funny insult. I can say the same thing about other cars. hungryJonJon 04-05-2004, 11:32 PM Are you okay? Really... are you? And speaking of brilliance... you're gushing with it! Who taught you that lil' trick with the numbers? R U 4 R34L??? Or are you self-educated? I meant: It's still a MUSTANG... as in I'm not impressed! Just in case you did not catch that, sport... haha, you sound like domestic owners that say "Oh, well it's still a Neon/Civic/Import" 1viadrft 04-05-2004, 11:35 PM I'm gonna stop before Layla'sKeeper and Redneck get mad it me... gonna stop right now... and I wasn't insulting the car all: "The Fucking Mustang sucks balls" or anything like that... that starts flame-wars... so I did suttle! So back-off, buddy! It's my opinion! 1viadrft 04-05-2004, 11:37 PM haha, you sound like domestic owners that say "Oh, well it's still a Neon/Civic/Import" Shaddup, noob... you make no sense! Quit trying to justify your existence here! Redneck, Layla: I'm stopping, I'm stopping! hungryJonJon 04-05-2004, 11:52 PM Shaddup, noob... you make no sense! Quit trying to justify your existence here! Redneck, Layla: I'm stopping, I'm stopping! :smooch: Layla's Keeper 04-06-2004, 12:00 AM Actually, he made perfect sense. Domestic owners could be shown Abel Ibarra's RX-7 that could qualify for a Pro Stock field and they'll still make snide comments about "fuggin Mazda". You're showing quite the same attitude. If this Mustang is carrying on the R tradition of stripped down pure racers with no sound deadening, two seats, massive brakes, stiff suspension and requiring a competition license to purchase one (save for the most recent version) then it'll be a handling beast. But, as it is merely a Mustang to you, you'd never give it the credit it would deserve as a good cornering, fast accelerating, all around strong sports car. And honestly, it looks much closer to the MG SV-R X-power than to the R34 Skyline. There's a lot of Peter Stevens influence in the design. Which, considering Peter Stevens's often muddled approach (the McLaren F1 and the SV-R are both his) coupled with J. Mays (Ford Design Chief) completely misguided "retrofuturism" style, makes this a mish-mash of "cutting edge" race track stylisms and tastelessly applied classic design cues. 1viadrft 04-06-2004, 12:04 AM BUT: it's my opinon! Plain and simple... StangNut86 04-06-2004, 12:34 AM without that hidious wing, and a little more dense grille, i like it a lot. lose the 2-piece headlights and i'm sold. the red one was badass... but come one now. it's a dedicated race car, with an exposed filler neck and full roll cage. the chances of a car like that actually being mass-produced are about as close to nil as is possible. ShortyDTP 04-06-2004, 02:47 AM Looks Slow!...LOL I really like it thos, but there nothing like a "real" R34. hungryJonJon 04-06-2004, 03:05 AM BUT: it's my opinon! Plain and simple... My opinion is that you are close minded and ignorant then. DkShadow 04-06-2004, 03:07 AM My opinion is that you are close minded and ignorant then. :nono: No need to start an argument. Ok we all have our opinions and we will end it at that. :) Now back to the threads topic ;) hungryJonJon 04-06-2004, 03:09 AM :nono: No need to start an argument. Ok we all have our opinions and we will end it at that. :) Now back to the threads topic ;) Isn't this thread about opinions? :bs: They got their shots on me earlier, it's only kind to return the favor. :sunglasse Did you get tires yet?? flylwsi 04-06-2004, 03:46 PM http://autoweek.com/specials/2004_newyork/ more pics here... interestingly, it's a car that could replace the current saleen mustang in the speed gt series looks like a skyline? looks like a dedicated GT car to me, not a skyline. the wing is large. and functional. it's a race car. not a street car. take a look at the vettes that run at le mans, and their wings. hmm... there's some seriously biased posts in here that make little to no sense when it comes straight down to it. the 5.0 cammer motor is far more advanced and produces more power than anything i've seen recently, and it's got TORQUE! RedLightning 04-06-2004, 06:44 PM http://www.supercars.net/cars/2004@$Ford@$Mustang%20GT-R%20Conceptg.html phantomz28 04-12-2004, 01:31 AM is it me or does anyone else find the interior and just the idea od this car ugly? i like how they bring back the old style but for gad's sake dont rice out a classic look!! thats like disrespectful!! but any ways, i is just wonderin if his would be street legal? plus with how it looks in side why would you want something that unfinished. no radio no av no vent. i mean just buy a normall 2005 mustang and upgrade the preformance parts. but thats just my thought. i think easter dinner is in my brain plus only got 4 hours of sleep!! YEAH!! ok good night StangNut86 04-12-2004, 01:47 AM even if they produce this car using that configuration, it wouldn't be available to the public... it specifically says in one of those links that the car is only for grassroots racing teams and professional roadracers. to answer that last post, that would be the way to go, because a car with all those modifications isn't the slightest bit streetable. it uses centerlock wheels too... imagine trying to change those with basic hand tools. i love roadracing, but i have no chance to do it around here. i'll just stick to drag racing, which i can do every weekend and most weekdays if i so choose. a small entry fee and the occasional street race isn't too tall a price. flylwsi 04-12-2004, 01:35 PM phantom... nothing in the interior? it's a race car. rice it out? it's raced out. body kits and wings like that didn't originate in the sport compact market, they originated on the race track, where this car is intended to be driven... you people really missed the point. did you guys say the same about the corvette c5-r when it came out? and then won le mans? (in it's class) BadA$$Snake 04-23-2004, 05:30 PM I think it looks bad a$$ if it makes the numbers it claims to it will own the streets. Just kill the wing and change the colour. And BAM, you got one crazy pony on your hands. Raz_Kaz 04-23-2004, 05:51 PM IF they do bring out streetable GT-R Mustang. Thos who like it shall buy it. Those who don't, won't...plain and simple. But I doubt that they can make a beast like that keeps its performance stats while still being an affordable street car. They will be as or more rare then the Mach 1's. Personally I would never buy a Ford, but that's my opinion and I don't think that me not buying that car will affect Ford's sells on the Mustangs. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
