Transmission Problems

My 93 3.3 Van has the O.D. Transmission. I have experienced the regular complaints that I have read about.
1. It sometimes sticks in 2nd gear
2. It sometimes kicks itsself in to neutral

Now it kicked into Neutral, and it seams (sounds) like the output shafts
are slipping in the drive shaft. If I shut it off, and start it up again, it will start to move then starts a sort of grinding noise.
It wil not go in Reverse at all, and I hear a slight similar noise.

Could this be the splines are wore off in the shafts? It has been making a clunking noise now and then too, on the right side.

It has not seamed like the bands were slipping at all.

Re: Transmission Problems

What kind of transmission fluid are you using?
The newer transmissions with OD require that you use only Mopar ATF +3 fluid.
The transmission can tell the difference between ATF+3 and, say...Dexron II and drop you into the 2nd gear limp-in mode.

I agree with three fingers and also it sounds like the noise you're hearing could be a broken half shaft. Although it may still be sitting inside the CV joint the shaft may be spinning inside the joint because the cage broke. Check it out...
