Kirkland Signature A/T tiresSnoDog 01-09-2002, 03:28 PM Damn! - I didn't see this thread down below ---- Sorry----! Since I've been shopping around for replacement tires, I happened to be in Costo (Priceclub) and a stopped by the tire center. Costco offers a house brand A/T tire in 30X9.50X15 and 31X10.5X15. The 6-ply carcass and tread pattern is identical to the BFG AT right down to the bead protection groove. The tire goob behind the counter says that the Kirtland Signature tire brand is OEM'd from Michelin (BFG), a few other sites on the internet back up that claim like this one at: (http://www.frates.com/private_tire_brands.htm) Costco's being as common as dirt most of the places I visit, I'm strongly leaning toward this tire and I'm looking for comments why it would or would not be a bad idea. The tire has a 40,000 mile treadwear warranty with full road hazzard, mounting, lifetime balancing and Costco will mount this tire up to 31X10.5X15 on an Xterra or Frontier so long as it has the 7" rim option. Plus, the price is almost irrisistable: 30X9.50X15 $83.99 31X10.5X15 $88.00 For those prices I could nearly get the fifth tire for the spare for 'free' compared to the BFG AT price. What do you think? SNG wqbang 01-09-2002, 03:39 PM Do they come in an MT? :D OffroadX 01-09-2002, 08:29 PM I'd have to see the tread pattern, but it sounds like a great deal if the tire is decent. Other than tread, the BFGs are really good for wear and the ability to take abuse. Sounds like these have decent wear too (10k less rated). The 6-ply is the tread, how about the sidewall? Brent ScottG 01-09-2002, 09:24 PM Sounds like a hell of a deal! I've never heard of Costco. I guess they don't have them down here. scott.com 01-09-2002, 11:20 PM Originally posted by ScottG Sounds like a hell of a deal! I've never heard of Costco. There is one in Houston. That will teach me not to post until I do a search. brian903 01-10-2002, 03:23 AM Hey SnoDog-I started the other post about these tires, and since you confirmed that they are pretty much the BFG's I'll probably get them within a month. I bought tires for my last truck at Costco would definetly recommend it. If I get them before you, I'll let you know how they do. SnoDog 01-10-2002, 12:37 PM The $88 price is getting to me.... I've been tearing up the internet attempting to verify the Kirkland Signature brand name. Everything I find points to Michelin...I looked up Brents brand names from the other Clostco post and the two tires there all point to other manufactures. I think I'm going to buy them as well (black walls out to avoid stigma!) I'll go out on a limb and say thay are Generic BFG's from Costco. For $88.00 I would classify them as a 'disposable' A/T tire. If yuou buy these before I do, please post back here and let me (us) know how they perform. I'm VERY interested. Most tires except for BFG have a 2 ply side wall. The tire looks like a BFG and if it has the 3 ply side wall, I think it is the same tire. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
