1999 FOB question

Quick question for ya. I have a 99 T&C. I found a 2000 FOB(keyless entry remote), brand new. They look identical. Will a 2000 fob work on a 99?? Is there a diffrence???

I tried programming it the way I saw it mentioned in this forum.

1) Using a functional key fob transmitter, unlock the vehicle and disarm the Vehicle Theft Security System VTSS
2) Insert ignition key into the ignition switch
3) Turn the ignition switch to RUN position without starting the engine.
4) Using a functional key fob transmitter, press and hold the UNLOCK button for a minimum four seconds (max. ten seconds).
5) While holding UNLOCK button, and before ten seconds passes, press and release the PANIC button. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module is set to receive the NEW Vehicle Access Code(s).
6) Within 30 seconds of the chime, press any button on each new key fob transmitter. After 30 seconds or when ignition switch is turned OFF, the RKE module will end the programming mode. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module will no longer receive additional Vehicle Acces Code(s).
7) When Vehicle Access Code(s) programming is complete, turn ignition switch to the OFF position and verify RKE system operation using each key fob.

Did not work. Any ideas?????

Call the local Chrysler parts department, they can probably give you the information needed.

Re: 1999 FOB question

First off, make sure you have the right remote, to date there are approx. 160 different remotes on the market. Chrysler has several different remotes, with different part numbers and various frequencies. The remote you need has a FCC ID # GQ43VT17T with a Canada # 1470 102 1294. If you have a unit with the following numbers, FCC ID GQ43VT9T with a Canada # 1470 102 460, it may look exactly the same, but it's a different unit frequency wise. Cut and paste the following address into your browser, http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2002/08-007-02.htm and see if any of the info might help you out. It explains several of the programming methods used on Chrysler products. Good luck.
