Hello all I am a newbie and the reason I found this forum is for some advice.

My name is Sam and I am 22 yrs old. I have a great job with Ford Motor Co at the Kansas City Assembly Plant. Just bought me a house a little under a year ago. Will be getting Married next month. Reason for the little biography is to let you guys have some insight on the type of person I am and some help on this advice.

My father has an immaculate condition 1966 Dodge Charger 383 ci bored .60 over. This was his very first car when he turned 16 yrs of age. When he left to go to college he had sold the Charger to a friend of his. Well, when he married my mother and graduated college he was in search to buy the car back. Found out the guy that purchased it had rolled it and let it sit in a pasture for years. That didn't stop my father from purchasing it back. I remember being very young and picking this ragid Charger up in this field where it was sitting on blocks. A lot of time and work has gone into this car and looks great today.

Well, due to financial reasons they are listing the Charger today in the local newspaper for $20K obo. This car was going to be passed down to me. They of course asked for my permission and I told them if they're tight with money then deffinitely sell it. They're torn between actually handing this car to a stranger or passing it down to me. Of course they know I will take fantastic care of this car. My current vehicles are a 2002 Mustang GT and a 1998 SVT Contour.

To show you how well I take care of my vehicles here is a few pictures.

sam im gonna tell you straight up sell the mustang and pay for the charger. im not a very big rustang fan. personally i think there to common like camaros and trans ams. the contour is rare. not to many poeple have them, or do they have mint condition 66 charger. even though it is not matching numbers it is still rare. i know it sounds stupid selling the stang but you could sell it and still have some money in your pocket. plus the value of the 66 will go higher than the stang. what ever you decide to do the situation isnt good cause your gonna lose a car you like. anyway good luck with whatevr you do and im sorry if my answer isnt what your looking for.

No, I thank you for your opinion. I am needing a little persuasion so you are helping. The stang is an absolute blast, but the stares I get in the Charger is priceless. You guys may not like this idea, but I have ideas for the Charger. Such as; transmission with OD, tinted windows, 17"x9" front & 18"x11" rear deepdish cragars, cowl hood, and either nitrous or roots blower. I can not leave a car stock and I really think with the mods I would be looking to do for the Charger would sure make her a head turner. This is why I think it could be either a bad or good decision if I owned it. Some people say leave it stock it's worth more, but of course I hang with the younger crowd and they say the complete opposite.

hey im 21 so i know what you mean about wondering what to do with the car if you get it. the only thing you have to think you is the older cars is drivability of the car with the mods. personally what you do with the car is up to the owner. it doesnt matter what other people think. some will like it some will hate it but as long as your happy with what you do. your good. all i can say is have fun and enjoy.

I also think you should sell one of your current cars and buy the Charger. You may not think so now but in a few years you will want is because it means so much to your dad and your family. Its nostalgia value is priceless.
My first car used to be my dad's and I regret like hell selling it, 20 years ago. At that time it was just an old car, but I would love to have it now.

Also, in 10 years, the charger will still be worth 20K or more. The Mustang or contour will be worth about 2K
