Well, I have a 95 SOHC 5 speed. I want to do a little something to spice it up a little bit. I was planning on starting out with an Iceman CAI, but then I saw K&Ns FIPK. The stats say that the FIPK would give up to a 10% boost in hp, where the CAI is only 5%. The stats usually don't lie, but I want some opinions. Any tips on a good exhaust system would be welcome too.

in a dohc, a cia would hurt the low end tourqe but i don't know about a sohc, if tourqe isn't affected in this way, i would go with the cia

Most any modification CAI intake will hurt your low end a little. I hate to say it, but if your looking for more low end, stay stock on the intake and simply drop a K&N filter in there.

As far as the K&N FIPK goes, I would still go with an Iceman over the FIPK. Mainly because the FIPK still sits in the stock factory air filter location which is directly above your exhaust (producing VERY hot air). Granted that the FIPK comes with a heat sheild and "fresh air tube" to try and combat this problem. However, the results are not going to be the same as if the intake was moved underneath the car (like the Iceman) where that kind of heat simply isn't present and the intake can breathe much colder air.

Of course, it is your car and you are free to do what you wish to it. Ultimately, the decision is yours.

Thanks for the info. I had also thought about rigging up some kind of small scoop off to the side of the hood to make my own ram intake directly into the stock air box, with a K&N filter. I'd still have to worry about getting water in the engine like with a CAI though. *sigh* Or would doing that drop my low end too? AAHHHH!!!
