RX engine swappED?

Blagh... my mom just informed me that the previous owner before her swapped the engine from the RX with an imported 1.8L Loyale motor.. but it still has the turbo.. Should I be looking for parts from an 86' RX or an 86' Loyale?

how much different are the motors? they're the same year...
what subarus have the alternator i need? Blagh... I'm so confused now

P.S. I live about 20 minutes South of Eugene.. If there was a way to contact one your friends that would be great.

Just look for parts for an RX.. all of the 85-86 EA82T motors are the same..87 and up was alittle different, but not much.. internally, I think the cams were a tiny bit different.. the ignition system and wiring harness was a little different.

if the motor is from an 86, it won't be from a loyale, it would have been from a GL or GL-10.. loyale, while basically the same as a GL wasn't introduced until 1990.

I will look to see who is in the Eugene area that can help you

As far as your alternator, any GL/DL/GL-10/RX/Loyale from 1985 and up will work.. 83 and 84 will work as well.

Ok.. I found someone that may be able to help you. His name is John Bloom and he's in Eugene..

heres his website.
http://www.oregonoffroadsubaruclub.org/

his email and phone number are on there.. I know from experience that emailing is not the best way to get ahold of him.. calling him is the only sure way, as he is a very busy guy.. But hes a pretty good guy and a lot of my friends have done business with him and some of them offroad their subarus with him.

Also, another great resource is www.ultimatesubaru.net . its the best place on the web for old school subaru information. a whole bunch of us subaru types all in one place

There are tons of people on that board in washington and oregon.

Forgot to mention.. John runs a Subaru only- custom shop in Eugene.

If you have trouble with any of the contact info, let me know and I will get ahold of him for you... Just email me at czaharris at comcast.net

Tell him Calebz from the USMB sent you.
