2 lower speeds gone on Blower!!

The 2 lower speeds just stopped working on my 2000 Alero. The 3rd, 4th, and highest speeds work OK. What would cause just 2 speeds to stop?? Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix this problem?

Thanks!

My 01 Alero did the same thing. It was under warranty at the time, so it was fixed by the dealer. On the repair sheet it said something about a resistor module and some molding clips, so I think after you get the face of the fan speed adjuster off it is an easy fix...

Re: 2 lower speeds gone on Blower!!

The part number on the invoice I got is:
89018413 Resistor 092150.
This was bought in Canada for $29.21. My Son replaced it for me. We bought the Haynes book for the Olds Alero and it shows you in the book. Hope that helps!

Re: 2 lower speeds gone on Blower!!

Last time I took my car to Midas to have my brakes replaced (2nd time in three years)....they told me that they are aware of an issue with this...apparently there is a trb on this problem.

Re: 2 lower speeds gone on Blower!!

Welcome to Alero ownership, I am about to replace mine for the second time.
I have a 2000, V6, I already replaced it once before, you will continue to loose speeds until eventually they are all gone.

I'm on my 3rd and it took a dump on me a few months ago. I've learned to live without it.

Re: 2 lower speeds gone on Blower!!

I just replaced my son's resistor pack. He had the same problem. THe pack was 19.99 at advance auto. to do it...
1. remove the panel under the glove box on the passenger's side.

2. remove the 3 screws that hold the blower fan. drop it out of the way.
3. the pack sits right behind were the blower was. it has 2 screws holding it in. Also when removing the fan...a computer module is kindof in the way. It will slide loose by pushing it towards the passager side door. It took me a few minutes to figure that one out.

hope this helps
