clogged intakejazer80 03-27-2004, 02:51 PM if i suspect my intake filter is clogged do i clean it or replace it? Igovert500 03-27-2004, 03:48 PM if you have a K&N or a cleanable filter(either cone shaped or drop in box filter), you should get a recharger/cleaner kit. (pretty cheap) If it is not a cleanable filter, but the original factory kind, then throw it away and get a new one. I assume from your sig you have the first. jazer80 04-02-2004, 04:10 PM okay i think i'm just gonna switch it for a new one since i dont' feel like dealing w/ all that..is an air filter something that quality matters on? can i just grab one off ebay or should i go for a brand name? 92lx 04-02-2004, 06:47 PM if you have an aftermarket intake, I'd clean the filter. Otherwise, K&N is good. But the idea of the K&N is that it's cleanable/reusable. Takes like maybe 20-30 minutes to clean up, and then let it dry, no biggy. - Nathan jazer80 04-02-2004, 08:08 PM do i need to go buy a kit or can i use any household solvents? jazer80 04-02-2004, 08:35 PM ah- speaking of intakes, where is the filter that air goes through before it comes through my vents? when i turn on my air if it hasn't been on for a while kinda smells funky Igovert500 04-02-2004, 09:12 PM That's not necessarily the filter, that might be your AC compressor. I don't know about just using household solvents...the recharger package comes with its own solvent and oil to put on after cleaning. I just always have used that. I'd rather my filter works then getting sh!t into the engine by saving a few bucks. But that's just me. Just remember when cleaning to run the water from the inside out, to wash the grim away, not into the filter. jazer80 04-02-2004, 09:39 PM well it smells when the ac is off also. where is that filter located? rstein13 04-03-2004, 07:25 AM Behind the dash, under the glove box. You will need to remove the lower center console cover, the passenger lower dash panel, right side door dash panel, glove box, lower passenger dash support rail. Then you will have access. You should not try this without the Honda manual. It is a PAIN IN THE ASS. jazer80 04-03-2004, 11:20 AM got the haynes one, should be in there i assume... what is the name of that filter so i can locate it in the manual rstein13 04-04-2004, 11:55 AM It is usually listed under "cabin air filter" and can be found under the "heating and air conditioning" section of your manual. Don't be surprised if Haynes leaves you scratching your head. By the way, you should run your AC year round to keep mildew from growing and the seals from drying. Good luck...
