Is there any hope for the Automatic?

Hi,

Go ahead and LOL, but I am thinking about getting the automatic. I will be driving it every day, and the thought of ˝ hour of stop and go traffic with a stick shift makes my leg, back and the carpal tunnel ache (hear violin here).

Anyway, I have driven both and the stick is adequate, the automatic is under powered. I actually have to drive conservative in the auto (too bad when it looks so cool). It really torks me that they only have two (not four) intakes on the auto engine. Is there any hope to increase the HP of the automatic?

I saw the Typhoon Intake Air System (8-10 hp), and the Autoexe spark plugs wires (5-7 hp). Is there anything else?

I saw somewhere in the list that the Dr. was working on a chip, but I did not see the availability of it, if it would work for the auto, and no links to a web site.

Any help would be appreciated.

Disappointed in the auto:-(,

Jeff

It is too late for me, save yourself;-)

I bailed and went for a 2002 Trans Am W/ Ram Air W/ 8K miles (Sweet!).
They are coming out of people’s garages everyday, pick one up they smoke!

Keep the good info flowing on this list, you guys rock!

Thanks,

Jeff O.

If i knew you i would kick you in the face for thinking about buying an automatic RX-8, a car that sleek and sexy CANNOT be disgraced by being made an automatic. Owning an automatic RX-8 is like taking a bicycle over a sports bike......RETARDED!!!!!!!!! don't do it. and don't buy a Ram

The manufacturer says the hp is lower on the auto becuase they limited the rpm to 7k (aprox). The reason is the auto trans can't handle the rpm.

Yes, the problem is that they have two ports on the auto and four ports on the manual. To get the manual upgraded to four ports you would have to get a new block. Not good.

Go for the V8 Trans Am Ram Air:)

Actually, the automatic has 4 ports and the manual 6.
That would explain the automatics decrease in power but increase in
torque. Keep in mind that the turbo rx-7s had 4 ports...

There would be no reason to only have 2 ports on the renesis, imean, the late 80s NA rx-7 had a 6 port engine.
