Question radiator problem, help!

My radiator on my 1998 dodge neon r/t edition is leaking coolant. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix or the cost of getting a new radiator? Please help!

Re: radiator problem, help!

I don't know the cost of a new radiator, but I've heard that occasionally aftermarket radiators made by companies like Griffin are actually cheaper than OEM.

You may consider using some "Bars Leaks" to fix your problem for very little money.

Have you kept up on maintenance? Few people change their coolant often enough, and that can kill radiators and cooling systems over time.

You can get a new radiator at a parts store for about $170!!! Do not buy anything but Modine (you can find them at Napa). There is no way to fix a radiator that is cracked, except take it to a specific radiator repair shop.... and it is possible it will cost more to fix it there then to buy a new one because of the price to mass produce them!!! Plus with a new radiator you get a lifetime warranty, and they will stand behind it! It is somewhat true that not changing your coolant will damage your radiator.... the actual problem is when you only run water in your radiator!!! Water does not have the anti-corrosion inhibitors that ethleyne-glycol (antifreeze) does!! This causes your system to rust on the inside and eventually eat its way out of the system.... I would recomend that you have the system flushed after you put in the radiator!!
