Talking 1990 BMW 525 Door Locks

Central door locking is a mystery that even the dealer could not figure out. When locking car, turning key in cylinder, the car will unlock itself, then you need to turn key again and it will stay locked. Two turns of key to lock the car each time. HUGE MYSTERY. Any ideas?

Thank you. The Bently repair book says the same thing. "there is a problem with the system" - which could be 12 different things. The trunk lock is supposed to operate the doors, but this is not happening. Therefore, I think I will try replacing the truck lock motor and go from there. Dealers (2) and (1) independant mechanic could not figure it out. Up to me at this point. Now I need to find the part. Not listed on Mesa or BVA or BMA.

Re: 1990 BMW 525 Door Locks

Thank you for your replies. Bavarian Auto has the part for $175. This will be an expensive experiment. I will try it and see...
