Can someone tell me please the proper method of adjusting the rear shoes on a 2001 Chevy Tracker. Unlike most vehicles, there is no slot on the back side of the housing to adjust the ajustment screw inside.
with the drum off , adjust it untill you can barely get the drum on then once you have it all back together back up and stop 4 or 5 times and the should take care of it

Thanks. I have tried similar with no success. It appears as though the adjusters advance the shoes out some but no far enough. When I checked the rear shoes (with 51,000 miles on them) there was almost no wear. I guess my next step is to replace the adjustment screw and springs/clips. Can you offer any other suggestions?
rear shoes will last awhile , i have seen cars with 80,000 miles on them and the shoes are just starting to need to be replaced , the rear brakes don't do much of the stoping so they do not wear out as fast , if this is your first time doing the brakes make sure you only do one side at a time so you can use the other side as a reference if you are not sure how things go back together , hope this helps you out
