My friends car is a Mitsubishi Lancer he's about to get a K&N air filter for it and he wants to reset the ecu. I know for honda u either take out the fuse or dissconnect negative battery cable for 15mins. Does that dissconnect battery cable work for all cars??

yes.

but no matter what he does to that car short of a motor swap, it will still be slow. drove one once and wanted to beat the crap out of it with a bat. they're disgustingly slow... dont think about passing at freeway speeds.

You can make any car quick. Just takes a lot of money. His best bet is probably a turbo, even at that, it'll probably run an amazing mid 15.

yeah just disconnect the negative battery terminal, works for all cars because it kills power to the ECU
