Question fan... heater-a/c problem

Simply put, it stopped working.
No fuses are blown. When I turn the a/c on it rotates real slow, but running the heater, i get nothing.

The fan under the hood is what runs slow, as for the vents in the vehicle... nothing at all, even with it on high.

any help would be appreciated.

thanx in advance,

heater prob?

My sister had a problem with her 2001 kia sportage heat 3 times. All 3 times the dealer replaced the resister for the heater. Fan speeds only worked on speed 3 or 4 but not 1 & 2. It was still under warranty so it didn't cost her to fix it but she did have to get a rental at her own expense.

Hope this helps.

Re: fan... heater-a/c problem

3 components commonly go bad on kias.

teh blower motor itself
the resistor
the blower switch.

check these components by using standard electrical system testing procedures (backprobing connectors while trying to duplicate teh problem).

occasionally the relay will blow because the pinning on the underside of the fuse box has a loose connection creating an arc. in that case repair the connection at the fuse box and replace the relay.

Re: fan... heater-a/c problem

Regarding this problem, is there any website that would have information, to include photo's, to change these items? I am having the same problem with my '99 Sportage. Blower does not work, but with engine on and fan speed switch on high, there is a slight change in engine speed. Whatever can be provided would be great.
