Angry 67 Nova SS Firing problem

For some reason only 3 out of the 8 cylinders are firing and I am not sure why. I would appreciate any ideas on why this is happening. I've replaced the points and the rotor but with no success.
Thanks
Jed

I know all the wires are good, I put them on my old truck. I also regapped all of the plugs. I have not checked the coil, I will try that tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the help and I will let you know if that aleviates the problem.

Re: 67 Nova SS Firing problem

replace the cap it is probably caroded that is what happend to my points distributor if that dont work cheak the shaft by shaking the top to see if it makes the the points close when they are suposed to be open. if that is the case buy a new distibutor

Re: 67 Nova SS Firing problem

Hmmm, what racingpyro19 said was the same thing I was gonna say . Worn out distributor shaft bushings sounds like the culprit. A new distributor definitely sounds like the solution. Unless you're trying to keep the car "original", go with an aftermarket electronic distributor (forget about the HEI because the distributor/cap won't fit with the firewall being so close).
