just bought a gorgeous 95 SC2--need help on checking thermostat/cooling system!!joyrider 03-15-2004, 12:45 PM Just bought a beautiful gold 95 SC2 with just under 97K. I've never owned a Saturn so I don't know what to expect. The car runs great so far, but it tells me there is low coolant. I checked the reservoir and it is full. The temp gauge reads a little hot--about a notch above the halfway mark once the car has been driven for about 15-20 min. or so. Then it floats slowly back down. Is the thermostat sticking? If so, I hate to sound like a total dumbass, but where is the thermostat located? Could the sensor that tells how much coolant is in the system be bad? If so, where is that located? Or could there be air in the system? If so, what's the best way to purge it--this is my first vehicle that has a pressurized overflow. Whew! Thanks for your help. BRARUN 03-20-2004, 10:20 PM it's your cooling fan i have two saturns and for some reason the cooling fans dot work like they should and does the same thing but it should come on when you have your a/c on and the fan on half way ot high if your a/c don't work un hook the a/c compressor [the wire ontop of it] then take jump the pressure switch which should be located between the fuse box and strut mount and have two wires and one is green jump them with the motor runing with a/c button on an a/c fan on high the cool fan should come on and keep motor cool. If that is it then you should have someone to get the cooling fan to work like it should without doing all that i have told you but that is the way to tell i keep it like that because my a/c does not work because i haven't put any freon in it hope i could help saturnxsc2 03-20-2004, 10:44 PM there are two thermostats, one for hot and one for cold. i was told i have to change them in my car but it runs good for now.
