I have a question about... (5th gen Civic related)SilverY2KCivic 01-05-2002, 08:48 PM I have a question about the infamous 3 black Civics from the Fast and the Furious. No, I don't care about what body kits or wings they have, I already have that setup for my car picked out (besides I roll a 6th gen anyways). What I want to know are any technical specs about those Civics, such as what mods do they have to them, and any performance specs. I'm particularly interested to know what exhaust system those Civics had on them, because whatever it was, it sounded pretty nice I thought. Also, does anyone know where I might be able to find pics of the black Civics used in the movie? Thanks. VTEC_boi 01-05-2002, 08:52 PM Those Civics had CGI Edited exhuasts and blow-off valves :D If you look close enough u see a STOCK exhaust. They're lowered w/ rims (17" Axis Neos w/ gold accent) and a body kit/wing. and Green neon. THAT'S ALL NOT EVEN CLEAR CORNERS Swonder67 01-05-2002, 08:57 PM I think I also saw roll bars in it too. No wonder it sounded so nice! :D I'll have to reply the scenes with them in it, and look at it more closely. ;) Yes, they DID have roll bars in them from what I could tell, but something I noticed, was that the scene where Letti's black Civic lost control and rolled, if you look carefully, you'll notice that the cars are MISSING the rear shelves to them, so all you see is the sheet metal that the shelf is normally covering! So these cars were stripped clunkers it's looking more like. There's no way in hell the rear shelf flew off in the flip, you can't see it, and it would be impossible for it to anyways. Hollywood effects SUCK sometimes. Swonder67 01-05-2002, 11:24 PM you could try to build "reall hijacker civics". they'll look like the ones in the movie, but actually perform like they're suposed to. after seeing those 5th gens in the movie, i wanted a 5th gen coupe. khead717 01-06-2002, 03:22 AM they probably don't run as fast as they looked. Like that orange supra that police guy has, it sounded sooo nice in the movie but when you watch the behind-the-scene on DVD, it sounded so quiet like stock... it's all about sound and visual effects man! drift 01-06-2002, 03:53 AM notice the "blow off sounds"? if they were turbocharged and "pumped up", then why did the girl have to not only downshift, but barely accelerated up to the semi at 60mph? Gerbilo 01-06-2002, 03:53 AM if i rip the back doors off mine does it count as a coupe? drift 01-06-2002, 04:08 AM Originally posted by Gerbilo if i rip the back doors off mine does it count as a coupe? maybe... or a Jeep. OpticReflexion 01-06-2002, 10:14 PM just bondo 'em shut Gerbilo 01-07-2002, 01:11 AM lol... i was joking about it to a friend and he mentioned bondo lol oh well... a sedan will do for now, looks fine and easier to throw ppl/crap in the back SilverY2KCivic 01-07-2002, 01:41 AM Originally posted by khead717 they probably don't run as fast as they looked. Naw, I think the behind the scenes cameras and mics, sucked. I've seen the original Supra used in the movie in person at the LA Auto Show last year (the one that sold on Ebay for almost $90,000) and believe me, that car was a LOT of go! I hear it pushed something like almost 600hp??? I dunno, but it DID have the dual NOS bottles, and it did have an aftermarket exhaust on it. But remember, in movies like this (just as with the Batman movies) they always build several of the same cars. One for performance aspects (looks like crap up close, but gets the point across) one for up close visual scenes, and usually one for all around, and in case they need to wreck one or something. Like the black Dodge Charger that wrecked on the semi at the end, I've stood next to a replica of it at Universal Studios in Hollywood, I think the one I saw was the performance one, but not positive on that. khead717 01-07-2002, 03:58 AM yeah, just wanna say that speed isn't everything. yes, it's fun to run fast and faster than anybody else on the street but heck, how fast can u drive with cops patrolling everywhere nowadays? why spend so much money on something that's not useful? unless you are rich and have no place to spend your money. Not sure if this is directed at me or not, but spending money on my car ISN'T gonna make it faster unless I yank the ECU and remove the speed governer. What I'm aiming for is just to merely be quicker. ;) It's a given that cops are everywhere, and I'm not condoning street racing, there's a track near my house (close to yours as well given your location) so if I want to race, I'm gonna do it legit, and legally. But you can't just race on a stock car. And stuff that's not useful? Do you have mods on your car? If so, did you notice a difference with them? And if not useful, then whey did you spend money on them? I'm not trying to flame you here, but it just kinda defeats the purpose of us all being here, and this web board if we don't mod our cars and just leave them stock. Just my $0.02 Peace khead717 01-07-2002, 04:07 PM Originally posted by SilverY2KCivic Not sure if this is directed at me or not, but spending money on my car ISN'T gonna make it faster unless I yank the ECU and remove the speed governer. Just my $0.02 Peace I get what you mean man~ but i thought we're talking about street racing?? i am talking about those people who race on streets....and little mods are fine, but you put nos , turbo, whatever, and you go 45 mph and next thing u know there is a cop flashing his dick at you. I like to put mods on my car, i like to look cool, i like to drive fast, and faster than other people. but it's getting frustrating to get all the tickets and trying to look out for cops. After all, some of us can't make people block the street for us to race like in the movie. By the way, which race track are you talking about? the one near 605 freeway? cause that's the only one i've seen.... is that for professionals only? or anybody can go in and race?? SilverY2KCivic 01-07-2002, 11:08 PM Gotcha, I agree with what you are saying. :) Yeah, I'm refering to Irwindale Speedway over in Irwindale, off the 605 fwy. on Arrow Hwy. And it's open to ANY street leagl car certain saturdays of the (or sundays) of the month. www.irwindalespeedway.com They have a section on the drag track if you scroll down on the page. VTEC_boi 01-08-2002, 06:38 PM The Supra..OMG it's nice.... Lots and lots of "go". It came in very high ranks in SCC's "Ultimate Street Car Challenge" Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
