I recently snagged an '01 1500 with 20000 miles. I've noticed that when pulling a trailer the overdrive doesn't always want to kick in. When going down the interstate she'll shoot up to 3100rpm when coming up a grade, and then only fall back to about 3000. This is enormously frustrating. It does not always occur, but does a lot, especially when it's windy. The service guy at the Dodge dealership says he experienced this as well with his, when pulling just a 300lb trailer. He said there's nothing that can be done and suggested I step up to the hemi. Some help.

I've never had this issue with Fords or Chevys. Am really regretting this purchase. Somebody tell me it's sensor issue, please. :banghead:

What motor do you have?

Don't tow in overdrive, its a quick and easy way to wreck any automatic tranny, ford chev or dodge. I know they used to list that in the owner's manual. Stick with direct to avoid burning the tranny up.

For sure don't tow in overdrive...what Pind said...bad idea...

If you have the 318, I have found my 2000 to be somewhat underpowered for hauling, no matter what the manual / sales material said...
