Blowing transmission fluidjackharrell 03-08-2004, 10:32 AM We have a '90 Trooper V6 and the transmission is bowing fluid out of the dipstick tube. This is usually not a severe problem but just a inconvenience and messy. However on a 300 mile trip it blew so much fluid out and onto the manfold that it actually flamed an burned a wire which I had to replace. Any ideas? rodeo02 03-12-2004, 11:15 PM Are you 100% sure it's not overfilled? For some reason ATF expands (more than other fluids) when hot & will spill out even if slightly overfilled. Check level only on a warm, idling, level surface truck. Other than that, I would check for a clogged filter and/or have the line pressure tested. You may have some kind of blockage, causing the sump to overfill & come out the filler tube :uhoh: . I've never seen even a tiny little automatic transaxle that holds less than 5-6qts- import or domestic.
