Question Shift Linkage

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the tabs on the shift linkage breaking i was also wondering that if it should break can you remove it easily or do you have to pull the engine and the tranny to get to it. Thx

not sure what tab's, I have had trouble with mine breaking, the cable end busted off where it is bolted onto the tranny. To replace the shift linkage, or the cable there is no need to pull the engine, I actually welded my cable to the piece that broke off, basically a tab, so probably what you are talking about. It has been holding so far, and seems stronger than factory.

Re: Shift Linkage

I have had to replace shift linkage on my 5 speed. The linkage is easy to disconect from the tranny. then drop the heat sheld abovethe exhaust pipe and you will need to take the actual shifter apart which is the real pain. Make sure to grab a diagram of the links in the shifter from a dealer before you atemp or at least take a few quik pictures it should help alot.
