How to remove the gear knob ?Dprotech 04-30-2001, 12:02 AM I can't figure out how to take the gear shifter knob off. I don't know if it matters much because I want to go for a short shift kit anyhow. But if you know ..could you write a few words please ..thanks in advance.:smoka: kris 04-30-2001, 12:19 AM Hack saw and vice grips. You would think that Nissan glues those things on. That is the only way we were able to get my friends off. So make sure you have a aftermarket knob handy for when you are done. :) NismoG20 05-01-2001, 12:10 PM take a wrench to it... the ones that lock r the best. we got my shit on in like 5 seconds email if u have any more questions G-Forces 05-01-2001, 02:16 PM Actually they DO glue them on! :D I took a chain pipe wrench (like the one in the pic) and a towel. Wrap the towel around the knob and use a setting on the chain wrench that is fricking tight. It might slip a couple times then just use a tighter setting. That bastard will eventually break. And with some luck the stock knob will be in perfect condition. That's how I got mine loose. primera man 05-02-2001, 04:24 AM Makes you wonder why they stick them on so bloody tight. ales 05-03-2001, 12:34 AM Well, quite recently I heard about a "towel-under-the-car" trick. Check his link http://www.sr20de.net/faq/shifters.html You'll have to remove the shifter, though. And get lucky. I heven't tried it myself, so ... Seems to be fun G-Forces 05-04-2001, 12:29 AM I want to know how you put your car in gear to park it over the knob when you have it laying on the ground! b-b00gie 05-04-2001, 10:11 AM lol.. i read that and scratched my head too ales 05-05-2001, 04:02 AM Originally posted by G-Forces I want to know how you put your car in gear to park it over the knob when you have it laying on the ground! LOL! But I don't think that when the guy mentioned the "minivan"(or somehting) he referred to the car he was working on! You can always push your car, can't you? ales 05-05-2001, 04:08 AM Oh, it was a Chevy Caprice, not a minivan Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
