Faster 420a??Neon1996 03-02-2004, 09:55 PM Ok i just figured out i can get a good engine real cheap.only thing is its from an older Talon/Laser/Eclipse and it is turbo charged. Now should this engine drop right into my car??I mean its the same engine and lays the same exact way.By the way does anyone kno if there were any problems with the 1990 engines. thanks for the replies. rrmike1 03-06-2004, 10:17 PM You can't put this motor in your car. The head on the Mitsubishi motor is opposite of the head on the Dodge motor. I'm pretty sure you can't swap the head either. Keep the turbocharger!! RRMIKE1 Neon1996 03-06-2004, 11:26 PM Your prolly right. But i have heard that the 1995-1999 GS/Rs have the same engine just a different head. But the older models are turbocharged stock and i cant fit that into my neon. Liz123 03-07-2004, 11:19 AM It's my understanding that everything about Chrysler's SOHC/DOHC 2.0 is different from Mitsubishi's 2.0. Liz MyBlueBalls 03-07-2004, 11:53 AM The mitsu engine will not fit cause of the head . Like rrmike1 said keep the turbo manifold and lines then sell the engine Neon1996 03-08-2004, 08:41 PM Well how bout the newer mitsu engines. The 1995-1999 they have a neon engine just a different head that i like. The non turbo charged ones. blachdohcneon 03-09-2004, 12:15 AM non turbo eclipses use the same engine thats in DOHC neons, but with a slightly different head. The turbo eclipses are a completely diff engine that was developed in japan, and is not compatable at all with the neon. 98dodgert 03-09-2004, 03:04 PM Go to www.neons.org and type in 4G63 in the search bar... That will explain everything you need to know. 4G63 shares nothing with the 420a. I have seen a website did a 4G63 swap into a Non Turbo Eclipse and they pretty much swapped the whole car over. And the Neon only shares the block with the 420a. Neon1996 03-09-2004, 09:45 PM Alright thanks but will the Mitsu(non turbo)head fit on my neon?I want the 140hp cause i like this head so will it fit?? MyBlueBalls 03-10-2004, 01:34 AM unless it's an absolute no all I can say is trial and error. and let us know Neon1996 03-10-2004, 10:55 PM I dont kno if i am still interested i was hoping to get a yes it will fit and i am not the type who does trial and error but its still and idea 209 neon 03-11-2004, 12:17 PM why dont you just try dropping in a 2.4 it will put you in mid 14s stock. or if you dont want to drop a whole motor just swap your head with a magnum. Neon1996 03-11-2004, 06:14 PM That sounds good but where can i find a magnum swap???Should Dodge Dealers carry them?? 209 neon 03-12-2004, 05:49 PM i dont know were you live but the dealership should carry them brand new or if you get lucky you could find one at a wrecking yard. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
