Foose Desingilov2xlr8 03-02-2004, 06:58 PM i sure you've already heard his name: Chip foose. I think he's the best car-artist ever. here is his page>>>>>Click Here<<<<< (http://www.wallesdator.com/Foose%20design/Foose%20design%20main.htm) he does his drawing in like 5 mins. Really i would like to draw like that. asaenz 03-02-2004, 07:11 PM Oh wow that is some good art. :iceslolan Thx for sharing Ooops I take that back. There is no art on his site except that first page logo and 3 builds. Oh well. Those look awesome but....no art, just real builds. :dunno: How do you know he/they spend 5 mins on rendering? I didn't see it anywhere. I wish I could see some of those other renderings on the home page. ilov2xlr8 03-02-2004, 07:25 PM I saw him on a show called >>RIDES<< (http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/rides/rides.html) it plays tonight at 9:00 at tlc he is not always there he was there in 2 episodes http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/rides/episode/episode_04.html and iam not sure of the other... oh yea its the v8 in a lexus i think tokes99 03-02-2004, 07:26 PM I will vouch for Chip Foose's Rendering skills, he really that good! They have done a couple of specials on him on The Learning Channel, and Discovery I think. He basically uses markers and broad controlled strokes with his arm to do quick renderings. He rendered a lexus gs 400? for the head honcho at lexus in no time at all while speaking to him, to show the design for the new one they were going to modify. I mean he did not even break the conversation, it was just too easy I guess. lostprophets 03-02-2004, 10:04 PM i think we could all learn something from foose.... good renderings dont always take forever... even though the average person might take a couple of days to make somthing amazing... people who rush through to make somethin rough (like me) make well... rough renderings.... foose is a master of both great renderings in no time at all.... KustmAce 03-02-2004, 11:26 PM i dunno about the best ever...but hes pretty darn good ilov2xlr8 03-02-2004, 11:27 PM tell me a better one for time/quality HighOctaneNOSUser 03-02-2004, 11:28 PM I dunno, five mins that's kinda iffy... KustmAce 03-02-2004, 11:34 PM well, if your gonna judge an artist based on how well he can draw in an alotted time frame, then ya, i guess he is the best 5-minute car artist...but as for overall skill, i dont know if it is fair to say that he is the best car-artist in history., especially since there have been so many truly amazing artists. HighOctaneNOSUser 03-02-2004, 11:55 PM Anyone see the art done in the Ferrari Enzo forums, High Res photos of rare cars thread? That F40 is gooood! ilov2xlr8 03-02-2004, 11:58 PM asaenz 03-03-2004, 06:53 AM http://www.wallesdator.com/Foose%20design/Fun%20Stuff/Manhattan%20Photoshoot.jpg Oh Wow that is very nice. :iceslolan Thx for sharing that. Ok IC you saw him on TV. I like his style a lot. Those design guys draw very fast. I saw Thom Taylor on TV once too and he did the same thing, rendering while talking to the customer. I wonder if they start out w/ a nice line drawing first and then just do most of the coloring in front of the customer? Zwaag 03-03-2004, 08:06 AM that guy is awesome, but as far as rendering a good design in a short amount of time is concerned, it's not that difficult. I'm not saying that I'm that good, but it only takes me 10-15 minuits to complete a render. When I was younger I would sit down and trace over every car drawing I came in contact with like 10 times. Now the overall "flow" of a car is etched in my brain. nismo4banger 03-03-2004, 03:37 PM yeah, I saw the epidode of rides with the IS430. I remember him rendering a drawing, but it looked like he had it all outlined before he got there. I saw the real car at the Chicago auto show a few weeks ago. It looks great. quarter_mile 03-05-2004, 09:26 AM http://www.wallesdator.com/Foose%20design/Fun%20Stuff/Manhattan%20Photoshoot.jpg is that a drawin?? i cant find many drawings on that site ilov2xlr8 03-05-2004, 10:03 AM half-drawing, half-picture ilov2xlr8 03-05-2004, 10:13 AM a question for u: Who designed the mustang shelby gt500 eleanor from the movie ``gone in 60 sec``??? that's right chip foose http://www.kitcarmag.com/featuredvehicles/93719/ 6th paragraph or under the first pic KustmAce 03-05-2004, 11:01 AM thats...great... lostprophets 03-05-2004, 03:28 PM that makes me like that car even more.... jeez dalle 05-14-2004, 05:17 PM chip foose is also the head of the design team on the show "overhauling" on TLC, where they show him sketch and design the ride they are fixing up each week, here are some more of his work - (http://www.chipfoose.com/Images/products/pt-001_frnt_bg.gif) (http://www.chipfoose.com/Images/products/pt-005_frnt_bg.gif) (http://www.chipfoose.com/Images/products/pt-002_frnt_bg.gif) The amazing thing is - these are not only drawings, these are actually blueprints for how they build the rides. GTmike400 05-14-2004, 05:24 PM The amazing thing is - these are not only drawings, these are actually blueprints for how they build the rides. No kidding. Thats why those drawings are done, they are ideas for what hes going to do. Did anyone besdies me know of this guy before he was aired on TV? Also, please dont resurect old threads. Howielong 05-14-2004, 07:26 PM Mr. Foose is a great artist and builder in my opion. I see what he has done and oh my god they are great. GTmike400 05-14-2004, 11:23 PM Mr. Foose is a great artist and builder in my opion. I see what he has done and oh my god they are great. Fabricator and artist are technically the same thing idiot. They are just using different mediums. Dammit Steve, expand your horizon. Oh wait, its vertical so it cant expand. :evillol: *you know Im just messing with you, but it is the truth (fabrication is an art). castback 05-14-2004, 11:41 PM *you know Im just messing with you, but it is the truth (fabrication is an art). ...coming from a guy who is hand fabriscating a whole model car :naughty: GTmike400 05-14-2004, 11:51 PM ...coming from a guy who is hand fabriscating a whole model car :naughty: I have fabricated numerous parts with real cars. So why the hell not build the whole damn thing just 1/6scale. Metal working is an art. Just like scuplting. Its not as easy as it looks either. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
