yesterday I was driving about 20 - 45 minutes, and when I was coming too a red light while hitting the brakes my car made a grumble and started shaking then died on me. I restarted fine, but once I shifted too a gear other then Nuetral the car died again.
I left it sitting for about 5 minutes started it up and it would drive again but not very far.

From what i've read so far the most common thing related too this would be the TCC Solenoid. where is it located on the 88 model corsica?

If your Corsica is an automatic and the torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid is faulty (sticking in apply mode), the torque converter will stay locked when the car comes to a stop. This is like stopping a manual trans car in gear without stepping on the clutch. The TCC solenoid is on the transmission valve body.

so does the TCC Solenoid sound like a safe bet?

and i'm a complete idiot when it comes too cars, so I have no clue where anything is, i'm sure "The TCC solenoid is on the transmission valve body." means something too someone with knowledge but too me its just some mroe flim flam .

as a quick fix, there is a plug into the side of the thm125c that you have, u can yank it, u lose the 'high gear indicator' that the ecm reports, but you will run and get 1-2mpg less. until you remove the tranny side cover and fix it

It's not an expensive fix. A reputable tranny shop should fix it for around $100.

umm could someone post me a picture or something of what i'm looking for? like I said i've no experience with cars, but someone said its under the air filter, but I still have no clue what i'm trying too find.

I had the same problem with 93 chev corsica, TCC plug is located between radiator and trans. i unpluged it 4 months ago no more stalling.
the TCC is located behind the driver side front wheel. remove wheel and there is a cover on trans TCC ic located inside cover.

The TCC plug is located directly under the air filter housing. ITs the black box on the dirvers side right next to the battery. Take off hte top, remove the rubber hose that leads to the throttle body, Take out the bolt that holds the bottom half of the air box in, and set the airbox aside. Look straight down, you will see a blue plug on the side of the transmission with two wires sticking out of it. Unplug it. (just a little warning, to avoid gettin burned, do this only after the car has been off for an hour or so)
