Buying a GSX off eBay ???Actinide 03-01-2004, 02:41 PM Three years ago I bought a 1997 RS (big mistake), and I've wanted to get more power out of it every since. Eventually I would like to put a turbo or supercharger in it, but I understand that it's better to just save my money and buy a GST/GSX. I've been looking at eBay for GST and GSX models (specifically GSX for their AWD), but my question is, would it be a good idea to buy it off eBay? I live in the SoCal area and I havent been able to find a good GSX in the recycler yet, but then again I havent looked that long. Thanks ashah000 03-01-2004, 03:17 PM First check dsmtrader, autotrader Then you can look on ebay for gsx/t in your area and then you can go look at it and test drive it and bid on that sucker :) Partizan 03-01-2004, 04:53 PM Only thing about buying on ebay would be look at the sellers feedback and if they have good customer service and see what others say. Other than that good luck! KieR 03-01-2004, 05:15 PM feedback really wont help you with a car sale, unless its through a dealership etc, because most people who sell cars on ebay are on ebay solely for this sale. I would never buy a car off ebay iwthout showing up and test-driving it extensively, maybe even taking the time to check to make sure its not taking a walk on them and taht's why they're selling it Partizan 03-02-2004, 10:01 AM Yeah but it will show you how well the seller has handled sales before and if they are reliable. Boviously if the person has a terrible feedback rating then you're not gonna want to even think about getting involved in the purchase. 1qwik4 03-02-2004, 12:45 PM I bought my car off of ebay, so I would not hesitate to do that. Look at the feedback to see if they are credible. They pull a carfax to see if the car has a clean title. You can always get burned, even if you test drive a car. That's just the way it is. soyee7 03-02-2004, 03:06 PM i bought my 98 gst off of ebay, and it was in great shape. The other guys are right, run a carfax on it and have them send you as many pics as possible. Actinide 03-02-2004, 04:01 PM Thanks for the heads up. I really wish I had the money now, there's a couple of good looking GSX's on ebay right now. Now, I have another question. Wheather it comes from ebay or a someplace else, would you recomend buying a car that has already substancial mods? The thing that worries me about that situation is that those cars will most likely have been abused more so than stock ones right? On the plus side, that's less mods for me to do on the car. What's your input on that? 1qwik4 03-02-2004, 05:42 PM IMO it doesn't matter weather it has mods or is stock. I would perfer a stock car but what is to say that the person modded the hell out of it and just turned it back to stock when he/she decided to sell it. You can't tell i.e. buyer beware. I would look for something with bolt ons like the upper i.c. pipes, fuel pump, intake, etc. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
