Highlander rear wind deflectorsophie 02-25-2004, 05:53 PM I am thinking about getting a rear spoiler for my 2003 Highlander. But I'm unclear just what the function of a spoiler is (other than maybe cosmetic). What I really want is a rear wind deflector, but Toyota doesn't make one for the Highlander, and I have not been able to find an after-market supplier that does either. My questions are (a) does anyone know where I can get a rear wind deflector for the Highlander (2001-03)? (b) will the stock rear spoiler do the job keeping the back window clean that a rear wind deflector does? SilverLotus340R 02-29-2004, 11:52 AM The stock spoiler does not keep the window clean @ all. it is completely cosmetic as far as i know. I cannot see why it would serve any function. And the only deflectors i have seen are the same as the stock one for the models which didnt come with the wing on it. may i ask why you need a wind deflector? sophie 03-01-2004, 09:11 PM Thanks SilverLotus340R. I wanted the rear wind deflector because one I had on an Explorer worked quite well at keeping the dust and dirt on the rear window down to a minimum. The stock (or any aftermarket) spoiler may not do that good a job of this and may be purely cosmetic. So I'd rather find a plastic rear wind deflector than a spoiler. SilverLotus340R 03-07-2004, 07:38 PM im sure there is some sort of contraption that will work. for some wierd reason i thought you needed a spoiler for downforce..haha on a SUV..that'd be funny kathygarnerville 11-17-2004, 11:48 AM Spoilers, etc are just like jewelry. Put it on for show, not for use. don't bother putting one on. typesix 08-17-2005, 03:51 PM Owners on another website put a Toyota rear spoiler on their Highlander and they say it made a big difference in reducing dirt on the rear window. They have to drive 10 miles on a dirt/gravel road every day. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
