In all my other Toyotas and Lexus, the turn signal makes a noticeable audible "click" when engaged. On the new 03 Camry, I can barely hear it when the engine is off. Forget it if engine is running and driving down the road. Steering wheel is adjusted for my driving position which blocks the flashing indicators so driving blind and deaf re: the turn signals.

Anyone else experiencing this? A co-worker with the same year Camry can't hear it on her car either. Called dealer and Toyota (bad experience) and they both say it was designed that way. Huh?

Must be electronic, rather than the old style "flasher".

I also have an 03 Camry LE and the turnsignals are, in fact, VERY quiet. Since you have your steering wheel adjusted to cover the visual flashers then you'll have to have a lot of faith that your turnsignals are activated. Shouldn't be a problem. :2cents:

Faith and discomfort now that I have to adjust the steering wheel up high enough to see the lights flash. I guess this is training for when I lose my hearing later in life? Gee, thanks Toyota???

Bossman, forgot to mention that Toyota is tracking this issue and if you so desire, you can log a case with Toyota's 800# so they at least have some data to do/not do anything about it. Maybe it'll get fixed some day? 1-800-331-4331 option 3,3

i dont see it as a problem. the other day while drivin my moms 04 solara i noticed it was quiet as hell. my 92 is very audible. im sure toyota did this on purpose. sitting a light with the turn signal on gets annoying.

Just bought an '03 Camry today. You weren't kidding, the signals are QUIET. I'm so thrilled with the car it doesn't bother me, for now. Can anyone confirm Towncar's suggestion that it's electronic? If not, I wonder of other relays/capacitors could be used that are louder.

If it’s clicking it’s got to be none 100% electronic i.e transistors (there is nothing there to click)
If it’s not electronic, as it seems to be in this case, or even the elctronic one, you can hook up a buzzer to it like one from JCWhitney

or if want to get fancy you could connect a different sounding beepers to left and right side, this way you’ll know for sure which one you left on ….

Not to clutter up the thread, but let me just say that quiet turn signals are not dimming my happy experience of having a good car. If I were taller, it might be a problem, I guess. This is my first car that wasn't already ancient when I got it. Man, it's nice to have a car that can go from 0-60 in less than a half an hour! Parmenides3
