1990 Chevy Corsica

I have a stalling problem with my 1990 chevy corsica, my car will start, run for about 5 minutes then it will die, when i try to start it, it is a hard start. When I do get it started and put it in gear, the car dies, no matter what gear it is.

Re: 1990 Chevy Corsica

mine did the same-crank shaft sensor cured it-it's a relatively cheap item to replace and if not the cause this time it would have been some day!

1990 Corsica

mine ran crappy and died occasionally and after checking the computer, ignition module, plugs, wires, coils x3 and finally .... crank sensor. Go figure?

Sounds like a crank sensor as they will show themselves along with ignition modules when they get hot. Ditto hard starts. If the car dies when stopping, might be TCC solenoid as well. What will happen is that car runs OK until you drive 5,10, 15 minutes, but when you slow down it feels like it is a standard in high gear and will jerk and stall. Starts but stalls as soon as put in gear. When cools it will go again but stalls as soon as you stop again. If it is not stalling like this though, most likely the crank sensor. Have seen crank sensor and igniton module both fail at same time! You can unhook the TCC if need be, and the crank sensor is cheap. Igniton module not cheap and can run 80-100 bucks. Try the cheaper things first.
