Help!!!!! cooling prob on chevy

ok well this is an 88 350 2wd chevy.

heres the deal.....

water pump went out..
replaced it
replaced all radiator hoses
replaced thermostat and gasket(stant 192/195 O.E.)
got radiator flushed

still goes over 210 degrees or more and jumps around alot over 210!

replaced thermostat just incase again and same thing still happens. it reaches over 210 and even goes all the way hot and nothing ever happens. no actual overheating ever happens. goes up and then will go done and sometimes even seems normal. lately the check gauge light has been coming on now as well.sometimes it will go on or off on acceleration or decellaration. checked the gauges fuse and it was fine also replaced temp sensor.....fan seems to work fine, heater works...........did i mention i have ran it for over 30 minutes without any signs of problems?

WHATS THE DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
any help is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

Re: Help!!!!! cooling prob on chevy

Do the above symptoms accure at 60MPH while cruising?
if so then we can safely say that your problem is not the radiator fan, if the radiator is truely OK and the water pump is functional, there's not much left except a possible radiator hose collapse or heavy blockage in the cooling passages.

Let's keep in mind that the cooling system is used for REMOVING heat, not generating heat, and it might not be your problem!

I recently trouble shot a 1995 silverado for a friend that was running hot and loosing some power, and at over 300,000 miles his Catalytic converter was plugged up.
New converter and it ran great!

Just a few ideas to think about.

Re: Help!!!!! cooling prob on chevy

have a mechanic do a pressure test on the system . to help diagnose . also it could be the radiator needs to be rodded out (remove tanks and manually clean the passages) at a radiator shop.
