1991 P/U RPM gauge

I currently own a 1991 toyota pick up - 4 cylinder, manual transmission, 22RE. Since I have a manual transmission with no rpm guage I felt it wise to put one in. I was wondering how many rpms I should get on the guage, 6,000, 7,000, 8,000, 9,000, or 10,000?

6.000 would be enough, but I would get a 7,000 just for the room. But really up to you. My memory is failing me, but I belaive that the 22RE red lines at ? 5700. If that is wrong, which it could be, it i damn close. So pretty much whatever one you need.

Alright, thanks for that information, I was planning on getting a 7 or 8 thousand rpm gauge and now I will go with a 7,000 gauge. Does anyone know were a 22RE redlines? For now I will go with 5,700 but can never be too sure.

Re: 1991 P/U RPM gauge

I have run mine higher than 6,000, but I am not sure that its advisable. Go with 5,700 and you should be ok. I think the stock gaue redline is somewhere around 5500
