18" rims?

im lookin to buy some rims for my 97 camry le, probly 18" chrome rims...will they fit without messin with the struts or springs? and what is a good width, ive been seeing 7" to 8.5"?... also has anyone had problems with the tires rubbing when turning?
if anyone delt with puttin rims on I'd appreciate some advice

They highly recommend that you don't go any higher than 17-inch rims with a 7-inch width at the most. If you want to actually drive the car, than go for the 17s. If you just want to sit it somewhere and show it off without turning the wheel, go for higher size. 17s look rather good on the Gen4s, and they're much safer to have since there's not any modification required. There is just way too much work involved to get a bigger tire size in that well than a 17.

If you're not sure about how the 17s would look on your Camry, go to www.tirerack.com and pick out your model car and go through and look at all the 17s. You can click on them and it will actually show you what they will look like on your car.

I have a 96 LE with 17 in rims, looks Awesome and have never had any problems with it, i would go with the 17's

I agree...17 inch rims are really good looking on Camrys. And the key factor here is the fact that I've never heard of anyone actually having problems with 17 inch rims on the Camry.

New-ish Gen4 camry owner. I had a question along this topic, but haven't found anything on the searches yet. I've got 15"s and want to go up (not sure whether 16" or 17" yet) and wanted to know if there is any problem with the spedometer due to the larger rims.

Well, not exactly a problem, but, naturally your speedo will be wrong. You'll be going faster than your speedo says. How much faster depends on your wheels & tires.

Anybody know if its possible to have the computer flashed to correct the spedometer/odometer? , or is it a one-time-burn on the Camrys? If it is possible, anybody have a price estimate? I found a wheelspeed converter, and the difference between the 205/65/15 and 205/60/16 is somewhat marginal (.8% I think it was), however over the duration of the vehicle it could adversely affect the odometer...?

Just go to Tirerack.com, they will have the correct sizes/profile wheel tire setups so your rolling diameter will be the same as factory. Your speedo will be reading correctly if you don't stray from the recommended sizes..This is known as plus 1 or plus 2

Tiretrack.com gave me a headache, go to Rimstop.com and clic on "Build your dream ride". Browse cars, then browse wheels, wheels size, and car height. The pictures are ugly, and the scale is not right at all but you get a pretty good idea where you should be heading with this.

CarDomain.com is also a pretty good source for plenty of pictures and most people state their rim size in their profiles.

So far I like 17 but I dig 18s
