93 5.7 TBI-can I swap 330 HP crate motor?

HELP!

I have a 1993 Suburban with a tired 5.7 engine. I would like to put a new 330 HP crate engine in for more performance. What do I need to get to make this happen. Will the crate engine match up with the stock TBI? What parts will I need?

I get the run around with mechanics contradicting each other on if it will run right when it is swapped out.

Are there any GEARHEADS out there that know what to do?

I have a similar question, is it feasable to swap a 1998 350 engine into an 89 Suburban? My 89 is a TBI. Will I need a different computer or wiring harnesses?

Swap 5.7 for crate eng

Yes you can swap a 330hp crate eng for the stock eng.......as long as it is designed for fuel injection. Here's where you'll have problems. Long block or short block? If its a long block you will have to use your intake and fuel managment system..assuming the intake will bolt to the heads ( vortec heads or non-vortec), your other problem is that your computer (and fuel managment system, intake, throttle body) is designed for a eng with only about 200 to maybe 230hp (I'm not sure of exact figures). So using bone stock fuel managment your eng wont be performing well. You can get a bigger Throttle body with bigger injectors, get a computer chip upgrade. Then, if you do all that you'll most likely need to go with an after market exhaust cat back or headers to tail pipe. Basically Both mechanics told you two different things......but they both are right. If you are willing to spend the money..........do it right. You will be pleased. If you dont have the funds to buy the extra goodies needed to support a 330hp eng just go back with a stock crate engine.

To answer isbob
OOOHHH it could be done. But trust me, it would't be worth the cost of a new computer system, wiring nightmares. and cost.
