Gas Mileage on a 1995 K2500 4x4 Diesel 6.5L Automatic Trans

Hi,

I recently bought a 1995 Chevy Truck K2500 4x4 Diesel 6.5L Automatic Trans. My question is gas mileage on this diesel? I get about 15mpg average empty. What mileage should I be getting? I was expecting more.

It has about 140,000 miles on it. It starts and runs great, NO smoke or hesitation. Lots of Power.

The reason I’m asking is that if the gas mileage is poor, what could be wrong with it?

Or is this the normal gas mileage?

I have the exact truck that you have and have the same problem. In the summer i get about 16 mpg. maybe this is normal for our trucks but i was hoping for better. if anyone else has any input, it would be appreciated.
