hi all, please help.
my car is a Camry Vista 1990 Automatic, 2L, 4WS
i am not sure if the alternator and/or (regulator) is faulty or not !!
There are 3 error lights in the dash board keeps intermittently lighiting up
these error lights are the back light, the battery and the engine !
either the alternator is not charging or there is a short somewhere that drains the battery.
i think the battery does not discharge over night when the car is off, as i tried to measure the leakage current and it was arround the 50mA. the voltage across the battery is intermittenly either 14v or 12v wheather its charging or not, the strange thing is that sometimes when the error indicators are lit the battery voltage is 14v.
i checked the brushes in the alternator and they looked ok, in terms of that they dont slip nor they are worn out
as for the belt i dont think it is slipping either
can you please guide me how to make sure its the alternator or regulator, is there anything i can do to confirm this before i go and buy a new one
thanks for your help.

There have been several posts referring to this problem and they all pointed to the alternater.
