Unhappy Hellllppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone help me out with my brake light and tail light problems???? I have a 84' BMW 533I. I got pulled over and need to take care of the problem...first things first, my brakes went out, so I had them power bled and they work fine now, car stops on a dime...like it should, then one of my tail lights goes out and then on sometimes and then off again, and the worst thing, I don't have any brake lights...ahhhhh, I checked and I have power at the fuse box...then I have power at the brake light sensor...on the brake pedal, at first it didnt' seem to work, so after I had bought a new one, it decides to work correctly..my main question is I think it is the brake failure relay in the trunk, because if I tap the box, the tail light comes on and tap it again and it goes out...but never do the brake lights work...any help with this or any place to find the part cheaper than $125 from the dealer...I thank you in advance....Tim

Hi, Tim.
Have you seen the way BMW does tail light bulbs? It's kind of strange. I recommend you remove your bulbs (one at a time), clean the area around where the bulb-holder mounts, until you've done them all.
I'll bet this solves your problem. And if it doesn't, you'll at least be a bit more familiar with the funky way tail lights work in a BMW.

Thumbs up Thanks Flunky...

I went to a local junk yard and looked at some parts for it..and found out is wasn't the bulb failure relay...it was indeed the bulbs and namely the sockets....but I have already purchased some new ones and will fix the problem ASAP...thanks again...Tim

Way to go, Tim!
There's only one junkyard in a couple hundred miles that has any cars like mine...and they charge real money.
Does your junkyard have a 1985 535i? I'm looking for weatherstripping for the back door on the driver's side, and some climate control stuff.
