96 blazer rear brakes sticking

The rear brakes in my 96 chevy blazer feel like they are sticking the first few times you depress the brake pedal when its snowy, cold, or wet. After the first few "sticks" they seem to operate normal until the truck sits overnight or for a long break during the day.

I have taken this same problem to the same mechanic a few times. The first time he "cleaned" the back assemblies and that seemed to work for a month or so. The last time he turned the back drums and that seemed to only work a few weeks this time.

What is the proper fix to this problem? Thanks.

Re: 96 blazer rear brakes sticking

Well, last night my 95 blazer s-10 type had a locked rear drum, it got wet, so I know know about your problem. I was able to get it to reset by rocking forward and reverse a few times, though I am not sure what caused the problem and how to fix it.

Re: 96 blazer rear brakes sticking

take off the drums and clean out all the brake dust with brake cleaner. it's also a good idea to scratch up the shoes with some rough sandpaper and readjust them. also check for leaking axle seals
