Altezza powered Impreza 2004
Hi guys,
Recently I bought a Subaru Impreza 2004 and I have done more than 65000km with it due to my daily driving to my work.
I work in a gas plant, which located far away from my house (( about 140km from me house )) and I’m sure that I will lose the engine just in the next two yeast (( and my work worth it )). My plan is to fit an Altezza RS200 engine + the 6 speed transmission into my car, and convert it to RWD Impreza! I think it will be a lot of fun to have Altezza powered Impreza specially when they have the same displacement but with higher rev for the Altezza RS200, so my question is, Could this be done to my car? I popped up the hood to see if there is enough space for the 3SGE engine and I’m sure that it can fit in my Impreza without any problem. Did any one have done this before? And how much would that cost me if I`m going to import the engine and the transmission + the rear Diff from Japan?

Re: Altezza powered Impreza 2004
But why would you want to do this to an Impreza?
Somehow I am not sure the engine will fit under the hood anyhow, at least not without some work to the mounts and other bracing and supports.

I thought this was gonna be about taillights
You could do it, but it would probably cost a fortune and take a year to complete. Which really makes you wonder... why? You can convert what you have to RWD if that's all you want, and you can swap in the 6 speed if that's what you want. It makes no sense to spend all that time and money when you're not really gaining anything.

Why? If you want a high reving motors, by some new cylinder heads from cobbtuning, 8500 rpm redline which is more than enough for a wrx. Say you were gonna do the engine swap, why do it to a 2004, do it to like a 98 or something, much cheaper. The beauty of Subaru's are..........they're AWD.

Re: Re: Altezza powered Impreza 2004
I seriously doubt that anyone has done such a conversion. I'm sure that you CAN do it with unjustifiable amount of time and expense. As to your motive, I have to agree with everyone else...WHY??
65,000 KM? C'mon, that's not much for a Subaru. When you read their magazine, "DRIVE", you read about these people who are going three, four, and five hundred thousand MILES on their Subaru's. It appears that they eventually require a new transmission after 250,000 miles or so, but you don't hear much about engine failing on you after a few 100,000 KMs, or miles for that matter.
As to why you want to insult your Subaru by making it RWD and further humiliate it by putting in a Toyota engine instead of a beautiful, turbo-charged, boxer four, that is beyond me....

guys, Subaru is unknown in my country , and my impreza not a turbo wrx . my car is 2.0 SOHC (( see my GD9 thread)) so it's only making 125 hp@5500 rpm. if u asked me why I didn't buy a wrx then ?
cuz impreza in my country comes only with the 2.0 SOHC ,so we don't have WRX or STi ,,,,, even the RS model we don't have fuuuuck Subaru dealer I like the STi but what can I do if it's not available ..
Toyota are famous here specially the altezza rs200 (( 2.0 DOHC with 210 hp))
so that's why I want the 3SGE but I'm not sure if it can fit well in my car? I have 9000$ now but I'm not sure if it is enough to buy the engine with the gears and the rear Diff!!

United Arab Emirates.
It's in the Middle East on the Persian Gulf, friendly neighbour to Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Re: Altezza powered Impreza 2004
this thread crax me up. lol just oddity of it.
while you're at it with the altezza engine...why don't you put a big block V8 in it and some sort of hover device? lol i'm joking, but it's about as practical.
why not sell the impreza or trade it in and get an altezza if you want that engine so bad? $9000 isn't gonna do much for you with what you're talking about. also i agree with everyone else....AWD!

Re: Altezza powered Impreza 2004
seriously, with $9000 you could twin turbo a 350 and throw it in a fiero or something, and that would destroy any impreza in the 1/4 mi. (I'm asuming that would would convert to rwd for drag racing)

Well, that's all well and good, but we aren't discussing what would destroy the car he HAS, we're discussing engines.

Re: Altezza powered Impreza 2004
Alright lets talk about engines. Its gonna be funny when you see an impreza cruizing down the road with the valve cover and cam pully sticking out of where a hood scoop should be. Inline fours dont generally fit where a flat fours do.
I was being sarcastic about the fiero, although it would probably be a pretty ripping car, its just funny to try to convert a rally car into a drag car. Or maybe he just wants to fit in with the drift fad.
